Pleasanton, where I live, is located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay area in Alameda county. It is about 48km (30 mi) east of San Francisco and 34km (21 mi) north of San Jose (as the crow flies). The "Mediterranean climate" of the SF Bay area is what I consider to be among the most livable climates in the world. However, being more inland, Pleasanton experiences more extreme temperatures than those cities located along the bay. Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin constitute the "Tri-Valley" region and is served by two freeways: I-580 and I-680.
Since May 10, 1997, Pleasanton has been linked via BART to San Francisco and Daly City. The closest airport is Livermore, which is primarily a general aviation, controlled Class D airport which I fly out of.
