Welcome to Snidget Sanctuary, version link and zelda. Layout by Emily. Image from Zelda no Densetsu, but I haven't been able to access the page in quite a while now. =(
Golden Snidgets are small, round birds with a long thin beak and sparkling red eyes. It has rotational joints in its wings, allowing it to fly and change directions at extreme speeds. Once hunted in sports and used in Quidditch games, the Snidget is now a protected species. Snidget sanctuaries exist worldwide. For full details, see Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander, and Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp.
September 3, 2007Well. Obviously, there's a huge gap from this update to my last one. Oh well. I just found out that you can't open an assignment on webassign, log out, then open it again to complete it. wtf. Fung better not give me half credit. Anyways. I had a relaxing and insightful long weekend (slacking off and reading college essay books). Now it's back to work. (to warren: I UPDATED! haHA!)
Hola. Yesterday, I took the PSATs. Decided to take a leap and answer pretty much every question. I was rushed on one of the math sections and mixed up how to do an incredibly simple algebra problem that I still don't remember. !@#$%. I rushed through the last section of English too, so I'm not optimistic about my score. I was in a rush that morning and forgot to bring my cellphone. Dad said I could borrow someone else's and that would've been dandy if I could remember my parents' cell numbers. So I spazzed out for a while about how to contact my parents; Ashwin offered to take me (and several others) home, but then my parents wouldn't know that I was home. So I spazzed some more until I finally contacted Jessica and found out her mom was taking me. (I borrowed 3 cellphones that day: Tiffany's, Ashwin's, and John's.) So I got home safe and sound. Yeah. I think I wanted to say something else, but I forgot. =/
Today we celebrated my mom's b-day. That was after I went to watch the movie with Peter and Joy though. Yepyep. Uh, let's see.... I met Peter at my busstop. Peter did not know to pay nor where to pay. Bus driver: First time riding a bus? Me: *heheh* Sorry Peter. =D; I let him read Ultra Maniac (uber-cool manga). We to to the station and walked to the northbound platform. Except Joy didn't believe me. >=( That wasn't fun. Then we bought our tickets and waited for the train. That was okay. Then the train came and braked too slowly. The (idiotic) driver had to run from one end of the train to the other to reverse back to the platform. That wasn't fun. We got on the train and Peter was frightened by a passing train when he looked out the window. That was fun. Joy read Ultra Maniac. We got to San Mateo and I showed them where China Bee is. (very nice restaurant) (^__^) Then we went to buy our tickets to see Corpse Bride at 3 pm. I told the guy: "General ticket for Corpse Bride at 3 o'clock." and Peter repeated what I said verbatim. [vocab word!] What a biter. Then I took them to Cold Stone and finally got my ice cream with Kit Kat mix-in, which I had wanted to try for quite a while. I stuffed the ice cream cup into my bag and snuck it past the (hispanic?) lady. Then I took the seat smack in the middle of the theater because I'm selfish like that. >=) They had a very exciting Harry Potter trailer. <3 Corpse Bride had a very nice story and would've been very good if that stupid skeleton hadn't sang an extra 3 minutes for NO REASON whatsoever. And Emily too, she could've just sang her line once. Yeesh. Afterwards, we went outside and I took Peter and Joy to Ichiban Kan (dollar store) using several illegal street crossings. =) Yeah, I hope they don't do that by themselves. =D; We waited half an hour for my mom to pick us up. =) I got some really chewy strawberry candy.
This morning, I woke up early to make an egg sandwich for Mom's breakfast. Then in the evening, Dad and I cooked dinner since she always cooks. We bought a cake and hid it in the refridgerator. We also got a foot cream thing (inside joke) to surprise her with. Unfortunately, I suppose I'm not too good with surprises, because she said she heard me talking to Dad about them. -________-; Then, Dad popped up with this foot massage slippers thing that even I didn't know about. (same inside joke) Except he wrapped it in this old bumblebee wrapping paper that Mom had saved from some other present. XD; (Dad: It was the perfect size!) Now I have to plan for Dad's b-day, which is a week away. -__- I already have something in mind but I shan't post it because Dad sometimes reads this blog. Scary huh?
Summer's almost over. I had a nice trip to Europe with my choir; went to Budapest, Vienna, then Prague. Stayed only a day and a half in Budapest. Vienna was by far my favorite, especially the castles we got to see (winter and summer castles). I liked the summer castle better because they had a lot more about the previous owners like Marie Antoinette (got the spelling right the first time! =D;) and her family. And then later the Emperor and Empress Elizabeth/Sissy, who was considered the most beautiful woman in the world (or at least Europe) in her time. ^__^ It was nice to see all the things I'd read about when I was...¬__¬? I forget. And my dad liked Vienna too. =D We sang in a mediocre performance...room-thing in Budapest along with two other local choirs. They actually prepared one English piece each and the second one sang one of the songs on our program. Then afterwards we socialized in a large eating area and the girls flirted with the local boys (since we hadn't seen any since...before the flight). I opted to listen the the more animated conversations. =/ During our stay in Vienna, my ankle started to hurt and swell again, like in San Diego last year. My mom thinks that I can't walk continuously for long distances (such as following my tour group and tour guide around almost everyday). Which I hope is not the case, because that makes me sound really...weak/fragile. >=( The hotel in Budapest had the best bathrooms-it was a Holiday Inn, so more American standards. The rooms in Vienna were the worst-the shower head was attached to this thing that was only half-way up the wall, so you'd have to stoop or sit down to wash your hair. And the temperature of the water fluctuated every minute. Ugh. The rooms in Prague were largest; we actually had separate rooms for the TV, toilet, shower, and bedroom, along with a small porch thing. The security there was..."not good" so we spent as little time there as possible. They told us not to open our large windows which could let people climb in and to bolt the doors, etc. And it was a bit scary; they sold cigarettes in a vending machine on the lobby so these local high school students would always hang around the entrance area. And when we (Angel, Maddie, someone else, Rose [<__<], and Ihad dropped off our luggage and were going downstairs to eat dinner, there were these two scary guys that I won't talk about. Nothing serious, just very unsettling. I think during our last performance in Europe I felt rather faint. Angel held my hand and Cathy asked whether I needed to sit down, but I got through it. It was horrible, still. x_X Maybe I didn't drink enough water.
Anyways, after a great farewell dinner, I got picked up by my parents and rode the train to their lovely 5 star hotel. Harumph. >=( The hotel was REALLY nice. -^^- The room would have been pretty big if there were only 2 people, but now there were 4. My parents said before I came it was still roomy. =P The TV had more channels and there was a speaker in the bathroom that broadcasted whatever the TV was showing so you could listen to the news or the sports or a movie (<__<;) while you were in the bathroom. So cool. <3<3<3 But I only got to sleep in the room and the next day we checked out and took a plane to Stockton, England (I think). We stayed at my dad's fourth oldest sister's house (in ___. I forgot) for a few days. We had to drive there ourselves from the airport, which Dad could, because the license he got when he used to live there lasts for...around 40/50 years. o_O; I told him not to drive too close to the curb like last time, but obviously, still rather scary to be riding while he tries to drive on different side of road. We saw pretty much everyone of my dad's family there. We were going to take the plane on Monday(?) and get back before July 4th, but due to a combination of unhelpful staff and Dad stashing important documents too well, we missed the flight and had to go to Dad's third oldest sister's place. (<-- favorite aunt on Dad's side of family) (=D) (Dad has 1/2older brother(s), 4 older sisters, and 1 younger sister, so he's the second youngest. =/) (And Mom has...2 or more older brothers, 1 older sister [<3<3<3], two younger brothers, and one younger sister. Perhaps others I am not aware of. They spread out very far. I'll talk about my family next time.) All flights were fully booked because the schools in England had just released all their students so we had to buy tickets again, this time from Virgin Atlantic. =) It was a very pleasant experience since I've never ridden any other airlines before besides UA. They had an uber-spiffy "award-winning" entertainment system where I watched "Kung Fu Hustle" in Cantonese (^___^) and House of Flying Daggers (no Cantonese on this one). There was a lot more leg space too, but that might have been because the seats near the tail are more widely spaced than the normal seats. We got back on Wednesday, one day before the attacks on the London subways and buses. Everyone back in England is alright. A lot of my friends thought I got bombed. I'm sure Brian hoped for it. =P
=D=D=D I won the San Mateo County Fair competition. Hurray! Along with four others. Boo. The judges were told to be "generous" because they had prepared a lot. >=( So I didn't feel quite as happy about it. However, I can say that I wasn't nervous when I went up to the stage and played. ^________^ As a result, I was able to perform really well, in spite of the rock band that was literally right outside the door. (They have that god damn band every year. So fucking annoying.) Well, this Saturday I'm going back to get my prize money, hopefully $25 instead of $22 dollars like last time. >=( Cheap freaks.
Hi. =) I haven't updated in a while. I'm just going to cover some funny stories and then tell everyone about my schedule so you know when not to contact me. =D And hopefully, no ill-meaning stalkers will read this. >=(
It's almost the end of school! (One more day) On Tuesday, Emily, Jessica, Nick, Han-Zhen, Brian (the Bastard), and I went to the Carlmont Village (again) and had pizza (again). <__<...>__> After pizza, we wandered around a while longer until Emily came up with the brilliant idea to give people piggyback rides. (What were you smoking, Emily?) And everyone had lots of fun. We did races and picked each other up by the arms and legs. Then this dry cleaners lady told us to go away and called security on us. That was a tad insulting. >=( So we walked back to the bus stop and went home.
Today, Jessica and I went on a walk. It's a new experiment we're doing to see if it sticks. We were trying to figure out which houses (in the rich neighborhood) belonged to some Asian/Chinese family. Jessica immediately pointed at one with a rather disheveled backyard. "Look at that! Completely unkept! Incredibly Hideously ugly!" (Or something like that. I think I need to edit the last phrase. Later. [8/19-Fixed. ...--;]) We went across the lagoon and tried again. Then, Jessica spotted another one and yelled the same thing across the water. When I attempted to stop her (because there were plenty of open windows and porch doors), she shouted "COMPLETELY UNKEPT!!!111!!" Suddenly we spotted a shadowy figure move in one of the open windows/doors. Jessica grabbed my hand and ran while she screamed. (I did not scream. Really! Maybe just a gasp. =D) And that ends my eventful day. Besides talking to Eric online and studying for HISTORY FINAL. *sigh*
Ha, no updates for over a month. Ah well.
I got my CM results back. (Certificate of Merit) (for piano) (organized by the MTAC) (Music Teachers Association of California) (Hurrah) Leslie and I managed to get the same scores on everything. =/ How peculiar. Annie, Leslie, and I managed to get the same score on our Theory test, though we made mistakes on different parts. *sigh* I didn't get any of the ear training wrong! =D On the other hand, my evaluator circled "Excelent" on my sight-reading, then crossed it out and circled "Good" with a "+." >_< 96% on my Theory, and 5 as my overall grade. Annie got 5+. Screw that. XP
On Friday, we (Jess, Emily, Brian, Han Zhen [SP?], and I) went to Carlmont Village for pizza. Brian got another $50, so he paid. <___<; I get suspicious whenever he does something nice. It's probably some evil plot to call favors later on when I've collected enough debt. Blah. Anyways, the boys ate very fast and polished off three slices in the time it took me to eat two. o_O; Jessica was accused of being a pedophile. We all admired Han Zhen's Chinese handwriting (it's soo pretty). Then we tried to hike to Ralston, but the boys ditched us. So Emily and I decided to go home. Jess and the others went to Safeway. Walking back to the busstop (and tennis area), we noticed someone's ID card. So I picked it up. I won't name names, but it was Jessica's stand partner in Orchestra. Emily and I laughed over some idiot who threw his ID card away. Then we saw another ID card of the same person. (Hmm...) Then we spotted a wallet! And a receipt for some textbooks with the guy's name on it. So we came up with two theories: 1) the guy threw his wallet away on purpose to convince his mom to buy him a new one (very likely, yes) or 2) someone stole his wallet, grabbed the money, and threw everything else away. I collected everything and brought it to the coach, since Greg wasn't there. Then we left, because we didn't know anyone there besides Christoph (sp?) (very weird name.) And after waiting another five minutes at the busstop, we saw Jess and co. walking to us. Stupid lame buses come once every half hour. Jeez. When we got home, Emily succeeded in badgering us to bike to Nob Hill with her so she could get concert tickets. Not the nice symphony concerts; the ones where she gets the pictures for her layout, etc. -.-; (Eww, no me gusta.) It was rather amusing to see Jessica biking in a bike that was made for 10-year-olds. She bought two boxes of brownie mix. Emily decided to bake cookies for us. Yayer. (Though I don't know how she'll get it to us, in which case, it'd probably be easier for her if she just ate them all herself.) And I got M&Ms. =P 2 days 'til Eric's birthday!
=D Happy late Chinese New Year. Yaay.
Today was my birthday! I started my day by getting up at 5:45 to catch the bus to Carlmont so I could take the AMC 12b. =/ Afterwards, I was getting upset at my incompetence (corrected by Joy!) when Jessica suddenly ambushed me with a bag of Milano cookies (double chocolate). -^^- And then, they created an imaginary boundary through which I couldn't cross because they were still busy crossing off the calories/fat/sugars in the nutrition facts. XD; Emily got me a gigantic bag of Sun Chips and Calvin got me some Starbucks frappuccino (sp?). All "fat free." XD; What a surprise. Joy got me two Alias books! =D. =D. =D.
The sub in English was...horribly bad at pronouncing names. I mean, who pronounces "Dylan" "Daylan"? Or Cherise as..."Cher-sy." o__O;;; Dylan L.'s last name was the funniest one, in my opinion. "Leeman" XD;;; Then in history, Jamie (sp?) was an idiot and shouted that it was my birthday. So Dylan threw the dog at me (forgot the name), and everyone sang Happy Birthday (with no sense of meter) XD; Then he threw me a Ramen. I'm not sure I was supposed to get one. .__.? Later in choir, Kate pulled the same thing and I was forced to stand in front of everyone while they sang happy birthday. That was embarrassing. We also sang a really BEAUTIFUL song called "Sure On This Shining Night." It's wonderful! -^^- I think I'll make a photocopy >=) heh. Thanks to everyone for their presents! And thanks to those who said "happy birthday" to me. (Even if I had to pull your hood off and grab your backpack. =P)
[ edit 1/29 ] I fell asleep yesterday and didn't get a chance to post this. -__- I'm also quite tired of listening to my songs on the CD. But mom insists. *sigh* [ /edit ]
Wow. I just had my piano lesson. It was amazing. My teacher told me to play the Ravel at my own speed to see what it sounded like. And it somehow turned out great! I got this weird feeling right after I heard the last note. Then when I played the Beethoven, the same thing happened. It felt like when you take a really deep breath that make your shoulders go up; the sensation that something tingly was going up through my chest. I could feel that I played really well. My god, that was incredible. I hope I can do the same thing at the competition. *hopes* (Yeah, lame-o post, but it just felt so-w/e. I've never had this feeling before.)
First post since New Year! =D There wasn't much to post about anyways...until today! >=D I had Chinese school, blah blah, and then Ming, Joy, and I discovered a classroom with an abundant supply of snacks! =D Actually, we just heard Robert (Chang) ask if he could mooch food from the classroom. So we followed that freak, who decided to yell "get out, freshman," and he almost picked Ming up and deposited her outside the door. >___>; Then he did the same to Joy. (wasn't really effective, since we just walked back inside...) And I thought, I'd be successful at grabbing one of those cheese crackers things when suddenly, Robert (who had finished stealing some orange juice) did some type of headlock? I dunno if it has a specific name. ?_? Well, anyway, if you held your arm horizontal, then grabbed someone's neck in the elbow, and dragged them (they're backwards) for 10 feet, more or less, that's what happened to me. Gar. Biggest shock of my life. (not really. -_-) God. >_< I can't believe he had the NERVE to do that! [ /delayed reaction ] >_<;;; The most bewildering part was that I couldn't pull him off at all. I didn't know guys were that strong. @_@ Yeesh. And it hurt too! >=O Not too much pressure on the throat, but still a little more than enough to make it uncomfortable. Blargh. And he just grinned and left like it was normal. (which it probably was, for him) <___<; God I'll kill him! XP
And there was US women's figure skating from 8-11 PM. =D Figure skating is my favorite sport to watch. ^___^ And Michelle Kwan won first. Sasha Cohen won second. Yay. I <3 those 2. Some 15-year-old called "Kimmie"? got third. le blah. I suppose she might be good to watch later on. She did a triple axel! But the landing was a little botched up! (she didn't fall though!) And the people might actually count her as the 2nd US woman to do a triple axel! Meh. Very exciting though. Glad that Michelle and Sasha got the 2 top scores. ^_____^ w00t.
Boxing Day! =) Yesterday, I got some body wash stuff from Leslie (._.;), A tiny picture frame made of silver from Natalie + Addison's mom, and a necklace and Hillsdale gift certificate from Mom. <__<; Guess I can buy my own stuff then. Overall fairly happy Christmas. I didn't really want anything. ._. We (my family and Natalie's family) went to Koi Palace in Daly City and waited for an hour and half before we finally got a table. Lots of smoking people. x_x Very crowded. Some non-Chinese guy that went there didn't know what to do when he saw this large crowd around the waiting area. (you just push through and tell the lady how many people you have. >__>;;;) And Addison wouldn't let me play his Gameboy SP (with Pokemon on it). ><; Gar. We finally ended up on a very tiny table. x_x Natalie and I played hang man while eating. Thankfully, Addison didn't try to help me. <__<; Later, my dad and brother played SSB, then I joined them, etc. Then Natalie's family came to our house. o_O; Addison joined in SSB and everyone began to team up on me. XP I still beat them. Most of the time. Everyone (except my brother and I) drank this Glögg (Scandinavian winter drink, according to that label on the bottle.) It smelled so bad I couldn't bring myself to drink it. x___x; And then, they made "Swedish Glögg" from the recipe they got from Ikea. (bought Glögg from Ikea too. <__<;) I still didn't drink it. Had lots of apple cider instead. ^__^ Today, my mom might go out for the after Christmas sale...>__>; I hope I don't get dragged along.
Plug Nate for reading my posts. =)
Hi. Winter break has started and I spent my first 2 days sick. Actually, I'd already had a sore throat on Friday, but I didn't pay attention to it. *shrug* Then, last night, I had a fever. Was forced to go to bed early. (9:00) Had a 10 hours/more sleep. Very affective. Watched TV and pLayed my Gamecube. (beat my dad and brother a lot) And now I'm fever-free! =D But I'm still a little dizzy. *sigh* And my mom doesn't know to hold off scolding me when I have a bad headache. That merciless woman...eh. Hi.
Yay. We're playing badminton in PE right now. ^^ ...and we have split lunches. XP Stupid people threw some soda bottles at the police. some of them had some form of liquid inside as well. The audacity was scary. :-O So now we have 2 separate lunch periods because it's too hard to control 2,000< kids. Or so they say. Fortunately, I don't think it'll last long because Abdilla said the science teachers can't meet at lunch and aren't very happy about it. Will most likely end after winter break. x_x; Urk.
=) School has been fun. I had a shadow on Wed. =D She was alright. Then I have a shadow on the 15th. x_x; Then Lindsey will shadow me on the 4th of Jan. =D Yay. Changed seats in Cotter's class. >_< I guess he trusts me since he put me in the back, but now I'm so far away from my friends! XP *shakes fist*
On another note...I got 100% on the last math test that we just did. =D In all of Grandon's classes, 50% or more failed. ^_____^ I remember I did the test, checked it, and then looked around. I didn't see anyone else turn in their test, so I wasn't sure whether I should do it or not. v_v; So I put my head down and slept away 10 minutes (there were 20 minutes left). Later I woke up and turned in my test. =) =) =) ...sorry.
Guess the quote! (Where it came from) No more prizes. Sorry.
"I'll tell you...what real love is. It is blind devotion, unquestioning self-humiliation, utter submission, trust and belief against yourself and against the whole world, giving up your whole heart and soul to the smiter-as I did!"
Blah. Haloscan is wonky. It only shows 1 comment when there are 3. (previous entry) x_x; Still testing. *sigh*
Har. Trying out my new layout.
