Traditionally, these bags were stuffed with straw and used for reclining while watching cricket matches on satellite TV at home in the yurt. Can be used for football and rugby matches as well.

Description: Old Ersari Turkoman rug with traditional guls on a red field. The variations in the guls suggest a tribal origin for this piece, which shows several wide strips of abrash from different batches of dyed wool yarn that have changed color with the passage of time. Good colors, full pile, and no dye runs.

Description: Afghan Balouch prayer rug with a stylized "tree of life" down the center of the field, and Salor "kejebe" figures flanking the "tree" and at the "hands of Fatima" position. With a kilim weave at the ends (to prevent unravelling). Very condition. White wool warp, slightly worn fringes. The pile is short and even, the handle is "floppy", the colors are good, and there are no dye runs. Country of origin: Afghanistan.

Description: Contemporary Afghan hatchlu rug, very similar to the (older) rug on the cover of Dick Parson's book "The Carpets of Afghhanistan", which provides authoritative descriptions of this type of rug, which is patterned after traditional door rugs called 'engsi' across the river in Turkmenistan. The condition is excellent, the colors are good, the handle is somewhat floppy as it should be, and there are no dye runs. Excellent wool, and flatweave ends with fringes in new condition. This rug is lies flat on the floor, with no sign of puckering, cockles, or stiffness. Detailed photos available on request. Country of origin: Afghanistan.
