| Saturday, May 25, 2002 was a beautiful sunny spring day in Boston. One of those rare New England days when the sun is brilliant, the humidity is low and the temperature is comfortable. | |
| Brian was decked out in his Top Hat and Tails! A normal Saturday attire for Brian! |
| |
Cindy was also looking for something interesting to do! It looks like she has just come in from the garden after picking a pretty bouquet!
Cindy suggested that they take the "T" to the Esplanade to see what was happening. Brian grabbed some grapes and they rode to the Charles. As they passed the "Big Dig", Brian threw some of the grape seeds out the window. Well, I don't have to tell you what happens when you throw grape seeds into the "Big Dig"! They grow into a gigantic vine reaching high into the sky! |
| |
However luckily for Cindy and Brian, Cindy's dad, "The Solemnizer" was in the neighborhood. You can always spot "The Solemnizer" because he wears a top hat and purple vest! Seeing the grape vine reaching for the sky, "The Solemnizer" was reminded of the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk".
| He rushed up to Cindy and Brian as they reached the Hatch Shell and warned them that there "Might be Giants" around there! |
| |
| They went behind the shell where we met Brian's mom and Cindy's mom! | |
"The Solemnizer" did his best ceremony! But, in spite of his incantations, they kept coming! They looked like ... yes! "They Might Be Giants" after all! |
| |
John Flansburg wrote "Congrats, Brian and Cindy" in black magic marker on her white dress and scrambled up the grape vine into the clouds. The Solemnizer scrambled up the vine in pursuit of John.
When he reached the top of the vine, he found himself on the rolling hills of Scotland's border counties. Through the fog and mist, he heard the drone of bagpipes playing what he thought was "Ana ng". |
| |
He followed the sound over the hills and down a winding country road which led him to the gates of what must be a castle.
The road wound through the dense forest. Suddenly, the sun broke through the clouds and he found himself before a magnificent medieval castle. |
| |
He walked around to the front in search of the entrance.
| As he entered the castle, he saw the Piper standing next to the Prince and Princess of Duns; Daggers Drawn! |
| |
Actually, the Prince and Princess were quite amiable but, somehow, "The Solemnizer" felt he had met them somewhere before! He asked them if they could help him in his quest to find Sir John of Flansburg, the infamous graffitist of white gowns!
The Prince thought he could help! He ran outside to check the time and thought if he played something on his bagpipes, he could attract Sir John to return to the castle! |
| |
| The Prince and Princess implored the Vicar of Duns to Exorcise Sir John and force him to repent his sins as a graffitist! | |
The Vicar succeeded and the evil graffitist, Sir John of Flansburg is changed into a ram! Then the Prince mounted Sir John in the entry for all to see as everyone celebrated! |
| |
| Everyone then retired to the library where they toasted the victory by sipping Glenfiddich Scotch from a Quaich! |
