.. it becomes eminently
critical that we monitor the way we utilize our remaining
energy reserves. Dr. Colin Campell, (Association for
the Study of Peak Oil and Gas) predicted that the world
oil harvest peaked on Thanksgiving Day, 2005 +/- three
weeks. If it is true, we will never again harvest as
much oil as we did on that historic day. If indeed this
epoch has already occured, then we must conserve what
is left. We are obligated to do so for our children.
Currently the United States alone consumes 2,800,000
barrels of oil PER DAY. That's over 30
barrels of oil PER SECOND, twenty-four hours per day
each and every day!
"Many
cultures around the world, including Native Americans,
consciously planned and acted to protect the well being
of seven generations into the future . . . Only during
the last century, especially since World War II, have
we all but forgotten the concept of planning for the
seventh generation."
