Prayer Before Duty
Dearest Lord, may I see You today and
everyday in the person of your sick and while nursing them, minister to You.
Though You hide yourself behind the irritable, exacting, and unreasonable, may I
still recognize You and say, “Jesus my patient, how sweet it is to serve
you.”
Lord give me Your seeing faith, that
my work will never become monotonous, that I may find a new joy in humoring and
gratifying the wishes of all sufferers.
Dearest Lord, make me appreciate the
dignity of my high vocation and its many responsibilities and never permit me to
disgrace it by giving way to coldness, unkindness or impatience.
My God, while You are Jesus
my patient, please be patient with my many faults. Look only to my intentions,
which is always to love and serve You in the presence of each and everyone of
Your sick. Lord, increase my faith, bless my effort, sanctify my work, now and
forever, Amen.
