Arthritis

I think everyone can look at that word Arthritis and know exactly what we’re talking about here. Arthritis in it’s various forms means painful joints, and depending on what type of arthritis we’re talking about can mean swelling, and disfigurement. Arthritis can affect anyone, children and adults, at any age.

I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in 1998 after having surgery to remove a torn meniscus in my right knee. Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms of arthritis. It’s known as wear and tear arthritis. It is the wearing away of the protective coating in the joints that helps them to move smoothly. I have had a second knee surgery on the same knee to remove the rest of the meniscus. My Orthopedic Surgeon told me, that my knee was like a chicken bone broken in half, with the rough edges of the break moving against each other. Yes it hurts. I have it in both knees and in my lower back. Coupled with Fibromyalgia, it’s a double whammy.

Nsaids, rest, and exercise are usually prescribed for Osteoarthritis.
