Everyone can say they have experienced some feelings of sadness in their lives. Depression is when the sadness doesn’t go away. There are many forms of Depression and it is a treatable illness for most people. Some forms of Depression are easier to treat than others.
I have lived with Depression for most of my life, and I believe my mother also suffered from Depression. My best friend in the world also suffered from Manic Depression before they discovered she had Lupus. People who live with chronic illness or chronic pain are very susceptible to Depression. Those without the abiltiy to effectively communicate are also highly susceptible.
Depression can coexist with many
conditions. Depression can be devastating to you and to those around
you. Children can suffer from depression too.
Some of the symptoms of depression include:
Sadness that doesn’t go away
Sleeping too much or too little
Eating too much or too little
Pervasive Thoughts
Thoughts of suicide
Inability to enjoy things you normally enjoy
Crying jags
If you are thinking about suicide or know someone who is talking about
suicide, take it seriously and get help immediately! People who feel
this way are not just looking for attention!
