The Joy of Oneness
Why can't we accept others
for the difference they ring?
Does my colored skin speak?
Is it noticed when I sing?
Does the skin's hue or face
make a difference in any case?
Can the bouquet of peopled race
bestow its glory in one small vase?
What if our faces were all the same
and everyone carried stripes and dots,
while all were perfect and none were lame,
would we be kinder in our earthly lots?
Could justice be served for all to see
on a special menu equal to each?
Will the sightless view in the same degree?
Can a balanced measure scale our reach?
Would honesty a garment wear
or truth voiced within each clan
be held scared and never rare,
as honor and duty weaves the plan.
Liking you for what you are inside
as we touch thoughts on life's ride,
instead of tossing them aside
like yesterday's newspaper to trash and hide.
Share your love and kindness with another
in this short time of circled gain.
The compassion from sister or brother
is there for us all in sun or rain.
Will we ever know of peace together
or will love slide from us forever?
Will "in god we trust" be something from the past
or can we all share and make it last?
Changing all the things above
are guided by my feelings love.
My tears and laugher often flame
knowing you and I are all the same.
Maybe the touch from one to the other
will hold this strange life together.
My dream is to hold hands with every brother
with love and peace to seal forever.
