Known So Well

I seek my special place
for I know it so well
"Listen closely my friend
this tale I will tell.
My gift to you
is this secret dell."

Close my eyes,
now hidden in dark,
without any lies,
thoughts form an arc.
He moves closer to hear,
his attention I grab.
Dark sees clear,
light breaks with a stab
Black is rent with a piercing jab

"Follow me friend."
My mind starts the weave,
searching deep inside
for the place I must cleave.
"Take nothing with you
it's time to leave."

Let me show you this place
I know so well

Roses and mint, so lovely to smell
raindrops play a tune, dancing as they fell
chimes in the forest, the soul hears the bell
rippling with a song, revealing the spell
feelings of peace, I'm sure you can tell

When sadness looks and it just may
picture these woods, so old are they.
In this forest by the bay
yellow gold is the sun's gleaming ray
the grass of emerald, no greener you'll see
the blue of the sky is electric to me
charcoal rocks wait for the crash of the sea
fluffy white clouds drift by endlessly
the bluish-green sea, salt you can smell
rolling waves, as they mount each swell
bubbling white foam crested as they fell
as I have said before
I know it so well

A trail beckons and seems to play
with warm feelings, showing the way
Let's walk on through the door
comfort and safety soaking each pore
rainbows of flowers covered the moor

The sound of water lapping, lapping at the edge
emerald vines climb and cascade over the ledge
Ah!  the wooded glade captures my stare
scattered with joy I just want to share
the peace, the beauty, I remember the prayer
to seek this place, known, I gladly dare

Again, thoughts wander
my mind continues to weave
I smile, as a bird lands on my sleeve
the song he sings I must believe
please speak to me, do tell
about this place that knows me
so very well

The croaking frog leaps with a bound
pieces of golden light strike the ground
the deer, unmoving, still half-asleep
all this and more my soul does reap
Yes! This day I know
from a time long ago

The birds gliding from tree to tree
I quietly listen and this is the key
from my soul silence comes singing
feeling the peace it's surely bringing
I hold no lease, for bells are ringing
about songs of old, forever winging

Here in the center is a remarkable tree
older than time, it seems to be
a fragrance of decay, the earth so damp
the lightning too, has left its stamp
the moist leaves and scent of the bark
changes of season, all showing their mark
my fingers reach out and touch the bark

Happily these branches start to sway
my soul is singing as I start to pray
thoughts are flooded with visions unknown
light and wisdom are clearly shown

My soul and this tree speak of a meeting
I smile to see the joyful greeting
the tree looked down, shaking its head
"protection you have," he silently said
it's great branches, the tree did move
lifting spirits, all doubts to soothe

Again, no words, instead love was sent
a piece of light each leaf did rent
falling to the ground and covering me
delighted, I stood in a shimmering sea
sparks of glitter had rained from above
a wonderful gift, a shower of love
forever to be

I shall return the promises keep
I turned to enter the forest deep
not goodbye, but "later" I trill
glancing back, the leaves were still
the branches hung with sadden air
till we meet again and I see them flair

I opened my eyes, I am home
a special place, I love to roam
peace and love are part of the spell
every detail
I know so well

starting this day, I'm ready to go
sharing this feeling, I promised so
my soul is healing
for this special place
I know so well
this place knows me
can't you tell?
