Last Chance
Something is gone... soft`rain
it will never be found
again. In it's place
are seamless scars and tears.
Shame parades
with a warning flag
down every alley
of the mind.
Silent screams invade
shattering the sun-filled door
as rainbows twist
and crack on the ceiling sky.
Wallpaper stars hide in every corner
as the moon glares at forbidden holes
filled with lusty cheese.
Something is lost...
buried in the ground.
In its place are fears
that midnight jump
and seep with tears.
Laughter is stuffed in shadows
dancing outside the window,
begging a trusting eye.
Love is cemented
and wrapped in quilted ice.
Kindness is folded
neatly in every drawer
guiltlessly waiting to be adorned.
Honor and trust are boxed
with a hammer and rusted nail.
Something is taken...
left for dead.
Truth is borrowed
or rented by the minute.
Compassion screeches to a stop at the door
and generosity runs into the street.
Freedom searches with a flashlight
escaping into the light.
Something is gone...
