My Wish

I wish you here
by my side...
in the coolness of dawn
and the bay so wide

the lizards scurry
from the heat of day
the hawks circling
o'er the breakfast bay

I wish you here
by my side...
when the sun is high
in the cloudless sky

with lotion and towel
we head for the beach
and white-capped waves
your thoughts to reach

I wish you here
by my side...
on the porch to swing
and smiles to fling

a warming breeze
pushes the grass
with a dancing tease
to bend and sway

I wish you here
by my side...
to capture the midnight
twinkling in delight

the beacons flash
a warning at sea
as the stars dance
for you and me

I wish you here
by my side...
the touch of your hand
in the evening sand
glows like a flame
twinkling your name>

tasting your lips
with love to play
my hand in yours
shall always stay
