Wanna Dance?
i saw snow
when i woke up
and i thought of you
the long winters of
your discontent
you endured
and if the divorce
became final yet
too bad
time's short
we could've had coffee
could've seen the faces
behind the words
you are refreshing
as the air that hits me
as i get off
the bus
it all seems so different
i'm not the hick
who got off the bus
just when looking
at the skyscrapers
made me drool
i guess a degree
and a lot of life learning
has made me realistic
still, across the water
NYC is a clever seductress and
still knows
how to stir
passion
even in the hearts
of the most jaded men
"strangers in the night
in the night
exchanging glances. . . .
strangers in the
night
what were the chances???"
old blue eyes
always had an attitude
wanna dance?

Dance You Say?
you
dear friend
are amazing
even though
it snowed that morning
surprising
the early springing iris
the bright-eyed robin
hardly noticed
the glowing white scene
beneath his branch
bravely
facing the wind
knowing
you were close
so close
piqued
my thoughts of
you too
a shared breakfast
with cups of smiles
stirred deeply with laughter
would have ended
delightfully
leaving work
outside
I sipped the steaming coffee
searching
the distant sky
reaching
for your thoughts
your distant nearness
because i knew
the wind was from the north
the divorce became final
eons ago
with a bitter, bone-chilling wind
january decided
29 was enough
granting my birthday wish
in a courtly chambered snow
signing at last
i remember coming home
alone
thinking of the enormity
and my 25 year old
made my mind freeze in it's tracks
truth and honesty had cleared a path
quickly
no pardons
no prisoners
now
sunrise paints my view
each morning
with soft musical hues
of freedom
that sway with the moving lights
(it had to be frank)
in a NY minute
playing
another chance???
"dance you say?"
"sure, love to!"
