This spring (2009) I started working in paper again, on a continuation of the Esoterica series called "Esoterica II: 2012"; it's about the hysteria surrounding this date in the Mayan Long Count Calendar. Each image also features a hexagram from the I Ching. Some of the titles of the work come directly from the meaning of the hexagram.  At least seven images have been planned, so look for a few more in the coming months.

The new acrylic paintings on custom birch panels fall into two categories.....vibrant and colorful work like "Landscape" or dark paintings using a minimalist color palette. The darker paintings are a continuation of work started last fall. Despite being abstract, images are based in reality. Some artwork is based on fluid dynamics such as turbulence or micro and macro images of everyday objects.

The "Tarot 13" pieces were done for this year's Dia de Los Muertos art shows. Three of these pieces will be in a show at the University of Arizona. Check my blog for show dates and locations.
