Unlimited Color can help you with color and design in many areas. Color cannot fix everything but it can create profound changes that will manifest themselves in a short time. Color is not mere decoration but serves a specific purpose.

For the built environment, I can work with any decorating style; from ultra modern to Victorian to high-tech. Style is secondary, but the impression conveyed is most important. Especially in a business setting, color must reinforce the image, just like the company business card and web site.

My approach is highly personal, with interviews, questionnaires, and a thorough understanding of the client’s specific needs. Plus there are almost always options rather set requirements. This is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but individual service created for your specific application or architectural space.

Click on the following for specific information on color and design consulting for your special needs:

Since each project is different, estimates and bids are given to the client after the initial consultation. No project is too small. However, each project is unique and each will receive individual attention and individual costing. Services that may be included in the cost are color swatch boards, material boards, trend reports, and renderings.

I can help you realize your color dreams!! Call or e-mail for a free quote.

Color for Commercial Spaces

Color consulting for the built environment, specifically office, schools, manufacturing plant, job shop, retail store, warehouse, showroom, shopping mall, Business Park, etc.

Did you know that color can help compensate for "problem areas" in a manufacturing plant, such as loud noises, offensive odors, excessively warm or cool areas? Color can also make visual inspection easier for employees and even improve efficiency.

  • Manufacturing: Are your employees complaining about eyestrain when doing certain tasks? Proper color use can increase employee morale and efficiency, even safety. Safety is a specialty.
  • Visual ergonomics: Often overlooked in office settings where computers are used. Increase employee satisfaction; decrease stress and worker's comp claims.
  • Restaurants: Create pleasant surroundings and friendly social atmosphere that will encourage patrons to come back.
  • Schools: Color can facilitate learning, lessen problems with disruptive students, and make the teacher's job a lot easier.
  • Warehouses: Stuck with an unattractive grey metal building? I can transform the exterior and make it more interesting, less anonymous.
  • Retail stores: Does your merchandise stand out or just get lost in the jumble? Do you wish to change the image of your store and go from middle price-point to upscale?
  • Corporate image: Your lobby or reception area is like your business card. How do your clients perceive your company? Give them the correct first impression.
  • Employee lounges: Do your employees actually use the lounge or lunchroom you have provided? I can make it an inviting and a popular place to go when they need a break from the busy workday.

Color for Residential Spaces

Interior or exterior residential buildings. I can help you improve the livability of single-family homes, apartment buildings, row houses, condominiums, duplexes, dorm buildings, and low-income housing.

  • Remodels: Not all contractors are good with color matching. I can help them get it right the first time.
  • Residential interiors: Having trouble picking the perfect kitchen wall color? Having a baby and need a nursery that is sophisticated but not too cute? I can give you options and solutions.
  • Color Fixes: Do-it-yourself projects that went awry. We've all been there. I can fix that too-dark bedroom or wrong-color bath.
  • Do-it-yourself: Usually the folks working at the hardware or paint stores are clueless about color and design. I can help you with color matching and creating an overall look that is unique to your space and situation. And you can still paint your own kitchen and save money!
  • Low-income housing and apartment buildings: I can choose colors that will improve appearance and even lessen vandalism.
  • Row houses and condos: Through color, I can create the cohesive look of a neighborhood yet make each unit more individual.
  • Residential exteriors: Trying to sell your house? Want your Victorian house to look more authentic? Wish to disguise an unfortunate architectural feature? I'll give you personalized service and work with your paint contractor.

Color in Health Care

Health care is a special area, different than commercial spaces. It encompasses areas such as clinics, hospitals, hospices, mental health care facilities, physical therapy centers, private doctors, elderly care, and Alzheimer's long-term care facilities. Proper color use in these facilities can speed the recovery of the patient, help the elderly safely navigate interior spaces, lessen anxiety, and most of all, promote the healing aspect of these facilities and lessen their institutional reputation.

  • Hospitals: Recovery rooms, labor and delivery, surgery suites, cafeteria, and reception areas all have different needs and must be treated very differently in terms of color and design.
  • Mental health: Color can create a pleasant atmosphere that promotes social skills and interaction amongst patients, while lessening anxiety.
  • Elderly care centers: As people age, their eyesight changes, especially the way they see colors. Proper color usage can significantly change how an ageing person interacts in their living space and can actually promote more independent living.
  • Children's hospitals: Color is especially important here. Children undergoing their first-time trip to the hospital are under extreme anxiety and stress. Color will help alleviate this stress and make for a faster recovery.

Color in Marketing

The consumer makes most buying decisions based on color, so why not make the most of it? Color as a marketing tool can encompass many areas, including product development and packaging design, point-of-sale displays, trade show booths, and color forecasting.

  • Product design: I can specify color palettes that will enhance the salability of the product. I can also work with your designer. The home accessories market is my specialty.
  • Color education and training: Do your employees have trouble with product quality control? Do they understand color tolerances?
  • Packaging design: The right color can make your product stand out on the store shelves and increase sales. I can work directly with your graphic designer.
  • Trade shows: Are you getting new clients at shows? Are old customers reordering? Are you attracting the right customers to your booth?
  • Company image: Does your logo, business card, letterhead, website, etc. reflect your mission statement? What about the relationship you have with your customers? Everything must reflect your company image, including the cover on your annual report. Let me help you present an entire package.
  • Design trend and color forecasting: With my membership in the Color Marketing Group, I have access to color trend information that is not available elsewhere. And not just for home accessories, but also trend and marketing information for all of the various demographic groups. This is a very valuable service for those who wish to stay on the forefront a trend.
  • Websites: Is your website diluting your image? Does it make your company look credible and professional? Do your customers spend time exploring or stay for only a minute or two? I can make it easy for them to find what they are looking for and enhance your company image.

Warm Glass

What is “warm glass? Warm glass is also known as kiln formed and kiln decorated glass. This type of processing is called warm to distinguish it from hot glass such as blown glass or cast glass (Hot glass is molten when formed) or cold glass, which is not heated at all. Some warm glass is actually formed into shallow shapes, such as slumped glass and some is just fired but not formed to create a nearly permanent decoration in glass tile, architectural panels, barware, or containers.

I have 15+ years experience in working in warm glass processes. If you or your company manufactures, distributes, or designs architectural glass panels, tile, or slumped or sagged glass products and need a consultant, consider contacting Unlimited Color. Some warm glass processes can also carry over to ceramics and hot glass manufacturing processes.

I’m familiar with many types of decorating processes and materials such as precious metal lusters, on-glaze colors, and decals and have used processes such as hand painting, spraying, and screen-printing.
  • Create custom color palettes for your new product lines
  • Train your employees in decorating techniques including quality control and color matching
  • Work with you on compliance with CA Prop. 65 concerning lead and cadmium levels in ceramic frits
  • Find unusual decorating products, including lead-free enamels and special-effect pigments
  • Research, evaluate, or even find new vendors and technical sales reps that can help you with a particular product line
  • Help you start a precious metals refining program or cadmium disposal program at your facility
  • I pride myself in keeping safe OSHA-compliant practices in your facility as well as complete process confidentiality
