While setting up a network connection it is highly recommended you disable all firewalls and anti virus software until you have a working connection.

If you have XP, or Windows Server 2k3, and a LAN beyond the computer with the bluetooth dongle i recommend you Bridge your connection instead of ICS to allow access to the entire lan. Do not bridge if your computeter is directly connected to the cable modem.

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) takes IP 192.168.0.1 on your network. If you have a router on the same subnet (First 3 digits of an IP, "192.168.0") most setups require you to move it to a different subnet (192.168.1). What to look for in your router to move its IP can be found here: Router Reconfig..

First Set defualt connecting Rules
1. Start->Settings
2. Connections Tab->connections
3. Advanced Tab->Select Networks
4. Set Both Drop downs to Work Settings, and click ok/x.
5. Open Network Card
6. Change drop down to work.
Network Access and Internet over bluetooth.

To share dialup just select the Dialup connection instead of the lan connection in step 2 (below), all remaining steps are the same. If prompted for a share target select the bluetooth dongle. If you also want the computer to dialup automatically when a internet request comes in check the second box, "establish a dialup connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the internet" in step 4.


1. Click Start->settings->double click network connections.
2. Right Click your wired/internet source connnection, if you don't know which is which look under device column.
3. Click properties
4. Check allow other network users to connect, and if given an option select the bluetooth connection as the target
4a. Drop Down to select a target if you have multiple networks.
5. Click ok.
6. Right Click on the bluetooth icon and click advanced configuration.
7. Click local services tab, Select network access, and click properties.
8. Change the drop down to internet/lan. Click ok. Click OK as many times as it takes to get back to the desktop.
9. Now on the PPC, Open Bluetooth Manager and click new->connect.
10. Select Explore and click next.
11. Click "tap here to choose."
12. Select the computer you paired with earlier.
13. Select the network Access and click next.
14. Click Finish.
15. Use this shortcut to connect to network access/internet.


Defualt the PPC is set to DHCP client mode if you wish to set the IPs manually follow the table below:

Static IP, only works connected to a 1.3.2.7 adapter
1. Click Start->settings->connections tabs->connections.
2. Click Advanced tab then network Card.
3. Select the bluetooth pan user driver.
4. Check Use specific IP and populate the fields according to your network.
5. Click name servers tab also, and populate the DNS field if you want internet to work.
6. Click ok/X and ok to the window that pops up, close everything/save anything you don't want to lose and do a soft reset.


Do not use static IP's if your not sure you need them.

Typically its easier to leave the PPC on DHCP. ICS will give it an IP from 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.254
The grey highlighted bluetooth lan is hard coded by ICS and cannot be changed, but it is ok to change the final digit in the other IP Addresses. If you change the IP of the router be sure to adjust the gateway and primary DNS of the Wired lan accordingly.
