One nice feature of the TomTom ONE LE is the ability to perform Itinerary Planning with different waypoints
(i.e. create your own route from point a to b to c to d ....)

This can become rather tedious using the TomTom itself to create these waypoints.  However, you are in luck!
I have found a great program that now automatically uses Google Maps to generate a route and it automatically
drops the resulting route as an option in the Itinerary Planning icon.

I won't get into the details of how to setup an Itinerary using the TomTom itself
because the owner's manual does a decent job of that.

A copy of the owner's manual can be found below:
>>> TomTom Owner's Manual <<<

This page will describe how to use Google Maps to generate a custom route.

1.  Download and install a program called T.Y.R.E. (Trace Your Route Everywhere):

    -  More information about T.Y.R.E. can be found at the following link:

NOTE:  It states you need to download Google Earth.  You do NOT need to do that when using the google maps feature.
Simply download and install TYRE and be sure you are connected to the internet and you are all set.

2.  Run the TYRE program - the Main Window of TYRE looks like this:

3.  Select the Run Google Maps Icon to execute Google Maps:

4.  The Google Maps Window will now open up:

5.  You can use your mouse to drag the map to any position you like by LEFT clicking, HOLDING, and dragging.  Or you can
use the arrows on the directional and zoom buttons on the UPPER LEFT of the window.  Here is a summary of some of the
     features of the google map:
Map View Satellite View Hybrid View

6.  Scroll the map over to the United States, and pick any point relatively near where you want your starting waypoint to be:

7.  In the bubble for the waypoint you just placed on the map, click the Zoom in link:

8.  You will now be at the MAXIMUM zoom with the waypoint in the center of the map:

9.  Use the scroll bar to zoom out and drag the map to find the precise location you want to use as your starting point.
Click on the map again to move the waypoint to your starting location:

10.  In the bubble above your waypoint, click "add to itinerary".  Note that your waypoint now shows on the left window
and the bubble asks you to rename the waypoint:

11.  Enter any name you wish and hit ENTER or the little checkmark next to the text window:

Congratulations, you have now created your first waypoint in your itinerary!

12.  Use Step #11 - Step #13 to plot your other waypoints that will be connected by your TomTom map router:

13.  When Finished, Click OK:

14.  You are now back at the main TYRE Window, and your waypoints are shown in the big square.

Now go up to FILE --> SAVE AS.. and save this route (you must do this before you can put this route on your TomTom).

NOTE:  Be sure to use a name that makes sense, because this is what will show up on your TomTom as the selection
name.  For this example I'm saving mine as scott_junk.itn

NOTE:  If you would like to generate a REVERSE itinerary to follow the same path on the return trip,
simply click the  Button! on the Main window

15.  Now you can finally load this thing onto your TomTom!  Once you've saved your route, connect your TomTom to your PC.

16.  Turn on your TomTom

17.  Once the TomTom is connected, simply click the "Copy To TomTom " icon in TYRE:

18.  On your windows lower right icon task menu, click on the safely remove hardware icon:

19.  When Windows states it is safe to remove your hardware, disconnect your TomTom from your PC.

20.  You can now go into the Itinerary Planning icon and load the itinerary you just installed:
            a) Click on Itinerary Planning:

            b) Click on Options:

            c) Click on Load Itinerary:

            d) Your itinerary you loaded in Step #17 is in the list.  Click on it to select it:

            e) You now see your waypoints.  Click on DONE.

             f) Click YES on the Destination confirmation screen and you are on your way!!
