Customizing
The Shutdown Image

The following is the default shutdown image that comes with the TomTom ONE LE:


To Change this image, follow the instructions on this page


1.  Find any image you would like to use for the shutdown screen.  I chose the following image:




2.  Using your favorite image editing software, resize and save the image using the following specifications:
            a) 320 x240 pixels
            b) 300 pixels per inch
            c) Windows bitmap (*.bmp)
            d) Filename = antitheft.bmp  (note: the TomTom is case sensitive, so make sure there are no capital letters)

3.  Plug in your TomTom to your PC

4.  Turn on your TomTom


5.  Using Windows Explorer, find your TomTom device (it will have the little red TomTom icon next to it: )

6.  Click the little "+" sign next to the TomTom icon to expand the folders:


7.   Make a backup of the existing antitheft.bmp file that is located in the root folder of your TomTom device.  
        - This will be the 
folder in my example.

8.  Once the backup has been made, copy the resulting file from step #2 above into the root folder of your TomTom device.  If you are asked to overwrite the existing file, say 'YES'.

9.  On your windows lower right icon task menu, click on the safely remove hardware icon:  


10.  When Windows states it is safe to remove your hardware, disconnect your TomTom from your PC.


11.  Turn off  your TomTom

12.  Next time you turn off your TomTom, you should see your new custom image like the following:
