A SUPER JACKPOT ON A SILVER STRIKE MACHINE

Here's a copy of a message I received 5/22/97. Anyone know who uses the the E-Mail address as signed?

Subject: Silver Strike Jackpot

For your information: Had a great surprise in April. We walked into the Flamingo Hilton - Reno to play the token machine. In just a few quarters, the single bars lined up on the top line and we were grinning because we got the token with just $1.50. As I was reaching down to catch the token I noticed the three 7s. I didn't think too much about it, but a woman who was standing behind me said "You hit the jackpot!". We looked again, and sure enough, not only did we get the token, some extra change, (9 quarters credit), but we hit the 777 on the 3rd line for a jackpot of $1000 dollars! No bells rang, no public address announcements that someone hit a jackpot, or etc. What was interesting was that none of the casino employees or the slot manager had ever seen one of these machines pay off before. It took them a couple of minutes to figure out what to do. It was great!! Funny though, we would have been disappointed if we had not won a token.....P.S. your publications are a great help. We have a lot of running around and token hunting to do. We have quite a few, so with the "guidance" of your listings, we will be compiling our collection and possibly looking for trade/sell opportunities. Keep us all posted!

Thank You BOOMTOWN

On a recent trip to Las Vegas, my son and I went to Boomtowm for the first time. I immediately sought out the Silver Strike machine. I put in three quarters, the max bet and instantly won three Silver Strikes. Being satisified, I then went to play video poker with my son. Boomtowm was once again nice to me. I cashed out $120.00...this from an investment of $10.00!!! I then went back to the Silver Strike machine and saw a guy playing it. Seeing that he wasn't having any luck, I sold him of my three for $10.00. Upon my return home I traded the one more the Silver Strikes to a fellow collector. Boomtown has my deep appreciation!!

Keep an Eye out for those Slot Manager's Slot Cards

From an anonymous Gambler

Interesting story with this premium. I was losing money at the casino as usual and tried this token slot machine. It paid off every time! I figured something was wrong. Then I noticed a card from one of the floor attendants still in the machine. The casino got me again anyway!

Fun at the Hacienda - - NOT

You can fill in the blank. I have never been so pissed in a casino in my life. But first, it was a decent trip overall, lots of new tokens, and I didn't choke in the tournament for a change. Of course I didn't win any money either, but that was a given. Bally's $200 token machine ate my $200, and the Bourbon Street machine was pure evil.

The Hacienda, well I sat at one machine and it took $25 to finally get a token, except all I got was gurgling noises from the machine. Problem was, the winner paid light said 40, so I knew I was in trouble. I flagged down a change girl but she had no clue, kept saying to push the collect winnings button, even though I told her it would just give me the quarters I had on credit. So she calls for a slot supervisor, and this guy is the biggest ...... you can imagine. He opened the machine, did a diagnostic on it and tells me that since the winner paid light said 40, that it paid me. I offered to empty my pockets, and asked them to check the eye in the sky or ask the people around me. But he said the light said it paid, end of story. I gave him my opinion of the situation, and of his attitude, and he just walked away. So now I've got a problem, I want to get the heck out of there, but I still need those 2 designs. So I played the other 2 machines and got 7 for $40. Of the 7, I got 1 of one design and 2 of another. So I figured I'd give the cage a try to see if they would trade, even though they have been uncooperative in the past. I got lucky and got a nice cashier, she gave me a look like she wasn't supposed to trade, but she quietly opened her drawer when her supervisor stormed over and said WE DON'T TRADE and walked away. So out the door I head, and what do I see as I approach the machine that screwed me? The slot supervisor is spinning the reels with 2 other employees watching him. I said it was funny that he should be testing it some more when he just said the machine was fine 15 minutes ago. He snarled "It's working perfectly" and then hit triple bars. Guess what? Nothing came out. After hearing me chuckle a bit about their perfectly functioning machines, he got up and left. Didn't even put an out of order sign on it, just left.

Will the real $10 Silver Premium Gaming Token please stand up!

Recently, I bid and won an auction lot on the internet. The lot was for a Peppermill Silver Premium Gaming Token. I immediately sent off a Postal Money Order for the lot and asked if the consingor had any more Silver Premium Tokens in my Snail Mail.

I received the following E-Mail (below) from this person with an absurd claim. He claims that a $10 Peppermill Silver Premium Gaming token is actually redeemable for $20 and makes me an offer he thinks I can't resist. NOTICE: He didn't even get my name right! (forgivable)

I received the Peppermill token on 11/29 and it is according to the Guide, cat # PPRE-3 the most recent $10 token issued by this casino. It's also interesting that this token states as all Nevada Silver Premium tokens do: "Limited Edition Ten Dollar Gaming Token", on both sides of the token on the outer ring.

Although he makes this absurd claim, the price he is asking, in my opinion depending upon which Peppermill token he is offering, isn't too out of line. $16.66 per token but according to recent market trends still a little high. However, I still can't believe if he actually thinks the token can be redeemed at the casino for $20, why he wouldn't keep them and cash them in himself or at least offer them for bid at what he believes to be their cash value.

I have no real problem with how the auction went with this consignor. Only what happened after the auction behind the scene. He honored the auction and made rapid shipment of the lot.

Hello Mark

I have three more of the tokens like I sold you on ebay, but I was dissappointed with what it brought. I feel these are worth 20.00 cause thats what the casino will cash them in for, if you like the one you got I will take 50.00 for the other 3 (putting yours in mail today ) shep@ticnet.com
