"IMAGE OR SUBSTANCE?"
Recently I read an article about "image." Basically it
said that Americans are vitally concerned about how they come across to others, how others see them. This is especially true with public figures in such areas as
sports, entertainment and politics. All too often the image is only an image with little or no depth of character to justify it.

In fact the situation reflects Jesus' words to some of the leaders of His day, i.e., that they are like "whitewashed tombs that look handsome on the outside, but inside are full of dead men's bones and every kind of corruption. In the same way you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." (Mt 23:27-28)

Our parish programs of religious education and formation help develop the total person, not just image. For us the inner self is even more important than the image we project (there is some real substance to our image)! Our parish school, the children's after school programs, and adult education all help in this ongoing formation. Don't short change yourselves or your children.

Invest yourselves more fully in the wisdom that our faith offers at St. Pius X!
