Despite the efforts of the US Government, the Catholic Church, and other unsavory sorts that are hell-bent to keep scientific information out of the hands of those that might be able to use it for the purpose of safety, health, and God forbid the pursuit of happiness.  Condoms are still the best option for protecting yourself from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, including pregnancy.  If you never have sex, and pray like I do that most of the followers of the HATEFUL God never did have sex in the past, present or future.  Despite all the hopes and dreams of the the the religious zealots and hellfire-n-brimstone BBQ'ers, people are still having sex.  So do what you must to protect yourself, but don't give in to the crazy ones, for they gave us all the things that are so entirely unrelated to the real love of God.

As always, latex condoms represent the most effective means to help reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases among sexually active individuals. Just remember there are many types of condoms to choose from, some include a spermicidal lubricant:

• Spermicidal lubricants on condoms are for extra pregnancy protection ONLY.
   
• Spermicidal lubricants do NOT provide extra protection against STDs including HIV.
   
• Condoms with spermicidal lubricants are NOT for rectal use.
   
• Condoms with spermicidal lubricants are NOT for more-than-once-a-day vaginal use.
   

More-than-once-a-day use of spermicides with Nonoxynol-9 may cause irritation that may increase the risk of STDs or AIDS. Always read the instructions before using any condom.
