Supplies

Over the summer the school sends out a supply list.  This page explains what you'll need for math, and when you need it.

Supply box and calculator

·         Sharpened pencils and an eraser (if you use mechanical pencils, bring extra lead too).  All work must be done in pencil.

·         A 6” ruler (12" is OK too) to help you make charts and graphs

·         A pen (any color except black) for correcting papers.

·         3x5 cards for vocabulary.

You’ll also need a TI-84+ Calculator.  Silver edition is not required.  If you already have a TI-83+, that will be fine.  If you have to buy a new calculator, the TI-84+ is suggested.

Loose leaf Notebook

You will need a loose leaf notebook and seven dividers.  Here are what the sections are for:

Warm-ups -- worksheets used at the beginning of class for review and practice.

Notes taken in class; also used for class-work, practice problems, etc.  (You may use a journal for this instead)

Problem Sets -- worksheets used in class.

Homework -- completed textbook homework assignments.

Paper -- graph paper and lined paper.

POW -- Problems of the Week.

GSP - Geometer's Sketchpad activity sheets.

Journal

You’ll need a bound composition book for your journal.  Graph paper inside is the best, but if you prefer you can use lined or blank.

Geometer's Sketchpad (GSP)

Geometer's Sketchpad is used to help you review geometry skills in preparation for high school.  The school sent out instructions on how to order it.  GSP works on Microsoft Windows and on Apple computers.  If you already have a copy of version 4.0 you don't need to order another one.

GSP is installed on most computers in the school.

Optional

You may wish to have a compass and protractor handy.

When you need it

Wherever you go

You will need to have your notebook, journal and calculator with you to do your homework.  Your notebook should have graph paper and lined paper inside.

Bring them to class each day, and home each night.

As soon as you finish your homework, put it in the front pocket of your notebook so you’ll remember to hand it in.

At school

Leave your supply box at school.

At home

Keep the following things at home:

·         Loose leaf paper for homework.

·         Graph paper

·         Pencils and eraser (extra lead if you use a mechanical pencil)

·         Extra batteries for your calculator.

·         Ruler

·         Scissors

·         Optional: protractor and compass

Refill your binder with notebook paper or graph paper as you need it.

On your home computer

Install GSP on your home computer (Windows or Mac).
