Hello and welcome
from me, Larry Gilbert, and my wife, Pat.
You are in "Our U.P.", the section in
Lake Superior Carvings dedicated to our family, friends,
fishing,
our hometown, and of course, our favorite peninsula!
For those of you who may not
know what this is all about, here's a quick
primer:
The state of Michigan is
made up of 2 seperate peninsulas*
the Upper Peninsula,
hence U.P., and that other one below the bridge.
(*A peninsula is a land mass
surrounded by water on 3 sides)
Those of us in the U.P. have come to be known as
"Yoopers."

Oh, as for Pat and I, here's a quick history:
Both of us were born and raised in Menominee, MI. We met
while I was working on my teaching degree at Northern
Michigan University
in Marquette. After we were married, we moved to Sault
Ste. Marie
where I was employed as an industial education instructor
in the
Sault school system. We remained in the Sault and many
years, 4 children,
and 6 grandchildren later, I am now retired and Pat works
for Wal*Mart.
When not carving, or fishing, or working,or going to
competitions,
we also enjoy camping.
