Tax deductible if donor itemizes deductions.

Up to 50 percent of adjusted gross income can be deducted in any one year.
Excess can be deducted over the next five years.
Actual savings depend on tax rate.

Pledges

Payable over a three-year period.
Deductible in the year a payment is made.

Matching Gifts

Takes advantage of programs offered by many employers.

Securities

· Stocks and bonds may be gifted.

Real Estate

Possible for donor to make gift of residence, farm, or vacation home, reserving right of occupancy as long as donor and spouse live.

· Irrevocable gift qualifies for immediate tax deduction based on present value of remainder interest.

Assign directly to your parish or, preferably, transfer through broker.
Amount of contribution is fair market value on the date of transfer

How can I determine what to give?

sacrifice - What does “SACRIFICE” mean to me? Your three-year commitment should be a demonstration of your personal definition of sacrifice.

process - What am I willing to do or do without? Seek to translate “SACRIFICE” into a plan of action.

amount - What kind of commitment will my sacrificial efforts generate during the next three years? Take a personal inventory. Consider investing from areas that may be appropriate for you and your situation:

How long may I spread out my payments?

You may spread your commitment over a three-year period.

Do I have to share my contribution with the Archdiocese?

We hope that you will as we at St. Rose receive a lot of support from the Archdiocese and we should be just as willing to share our riches with those less fortunate in the Archdiocese that need assistance. However, if you wish to restrict your contribution to St. Rose there is a space on the back of the pledge card entitled “Notes”. Simply designate that you want your donation to go to the St. Rose Church Endowment, the School Endowment, or some combination to both.

Can I direct my contribution toward a specific item?

If you wish you can specify this desire in the “Notes” on the back of the pledge card.

Are there matching opportunities?

Many employers have matching gift programs. Please check with your employer for any restrictions; for example some will not match funds given to churches but will match to schools such as St. Rose School. It is the donor's responsibility to prepare and submit the company documents needed to obtain a match. See the back of the pledge card for more information
