Introduction

We had been to Florida so many times, and yet never taken the opportunity to go to the Bahamas. It was time to correct that. We started in late January, 2005 with a flight away from cold, snowy Detroit to warm and sunny Fort Lauderdale for a three-day visit to family in Delray Beach. Then the vacation portion of this trip starts on January 30 with a short flight from Fort Lauderdale to Georgetown, Exuma.

Exuma, specifically, Great Exuma Island, and Long Island are the two Bahamian Islands we chose to visit. The choice of going to the "Out Islands" or "Family Islands" as the Bahamian Tourist Board now likes to call them, as opposed to the tourist hubs of Nassau and Freeport was, for us. a very easy choice. The specific choice of Exuma and Long Island was not so easy. We made it mostly by reading guide books. Probably we should go back one day and check out Cat Island, and perhaps Eleuthera, Abaco, or Bimini. Those are not the only ones, either.

But this trip is about Exuma and Long Island, and so I hope you will enjoy the pictures we took.
