Cascade Mountain Vacation 1999 - Introduction
Steve and Steffi's Cascade Mountain Vacation 1999
Welcome to Steve and Steffi's Cascade Mountain Vacation 1999. I created this site because I wanted to
show our friends and relations all of our cool vacation pictures. I did this
once before in 1997 when we went to California. It was a big success, so
I'm trying it again in 1999.
Introduction
This vacation was in the planning for the better part of a year. The Pacific Northwest is one of the
few parts of the United States that we had not been to on vacation. It packs some of the most interesting
mountains in the country, and we love mountains, so we had been anticipating it for some time.
Since our home base is Michigan, this trip had to be a fly-drive vacation. We found the airline fares
very high, so we experimented with PriceLine.com, to see if we could cut the costs and get decent tickets.
Many of my friends said that we would have trouble getting tickets, but we proved them wrong. Our flights
were arranged months in advance, and at a reasonable price.
We rented a small car, which turned out to be a Chevrolet Cavalier. Because we needed hiking equipment, we
wound packing four suitcases. Fortunately a small car can handle this as long one is willing to put half
of one's stuff in the back seat. We did that, and it worked well. This was only possible because the kids are
on their own.
I took my new Canon EOS 2000 camera with two lenses and several filters. This was a step up from my
old fixed-lens Yashica. As a result, I took a lot of pictures. As before, I had to shrink these down to a manageable
size so that I can bring to you so many of them. I have higher resolution versions of all these photos on
CD, so if you are interested, please contact me.

Navigation
This site is organized into chapters, so that the downloading does not get out of hand. Altogether they add
up to about 1.5 megabytes, so if you don't have a high speed line, you will experience delays.
Links are provided at the bottom of each chapter to all other chapters.
If you are planning on viewing the whole site, I recommend following them in order,
but feel free to jump around if it pleases you.
