Today: National anti-gay, religious broadcast: "Liberty Sunday"

Also: YOU, MY FRIENDS ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED
as volunteers here in my area of MA on election day.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN JOIN ME.

Hi friends,

As I write this week's update (a day late, I know) evangelic-extremists are filing into Boston to rally with anti-gay leaders form across the Nation (current MA Governor Mitt Romney's wife included).  They are trying again, to use our protections as a divisive political issue.  They are using to day's visit to telethon across the country for funds to help influence the petition battle here in MA to take away marriage protections.

We NEED to pick up ourselves and focus again on the next vote which is on less than 30 days. As you can see the national anti-gay groups that got this effort off the ground are not giving up.  Make no mistake, if all future marriages are banned, a lawsuit to strip away existing marriages will be next...  I was really pretty disappointed with the lack of response from last week's action item to send an email to the entire MA Legislature.  I did most of the work for you; ALL you need to do is click on the links provided and send.  I've left the action item there for one more week for you to take advantage of... Just click here or on the actions tab at the top of this page.  You do not have to be from MA to send!..  Our opposition is coming in from across the country, so should our support.

PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO HELP JERRY:

4 down and 6 more to go - I need 10 friends to volunteer.

THANK YOU SCOTT, DAVID, CATHRYN, and JOE for volunteering to help collect signature in support of marriage protections on election day!

I need to get 10 people to help out in the specially targeted area of Mass, which just happens to include and surround my town of Quincy.  If we can get these 5 - 7 targeted legislators to vote down the petition, WE COULD WIN on NOVEMBER 9th!...  THIS TIRING FIGHT COULD BE OVER - ONCE AND FOR ALL. PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING ME OUT WITH THIS EFFORT!..   If you cannot get the time off from work to help out, during the day, or evening, please consider helping me out by asking your friends and family.

DESPERATE NEED OF DONATIONS!

Ed and I have offered our story for MassEquality to use in their next mailing.  We hope that it can help stir some kind of action from our complacent community.
(click here to see the mailing)

I'm sharing it again, with you all with a special request.  Friends, Please send in a donation to MassEquality.  If you send one in right away it will be doubled by an anonymous resource in MA. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

"Astonishingly, our side is dangerously complacent. Attendance at our events is down across the state.

While 20 or 30 supporters came to local meetings a year ago, only the same five or six show up now. Half of our past donors have contributed nothing this year. And many of our advocates don’t even know there is a vote.

Meanwhile, the Right has become incredibly organized and energized to defeat us:

• Family Research Council president Tony Perkins is hosting a live broadcast from Tremont Street in Boston to 80 million people nationwide, mobilizing the Right to overturn marriage equality in Massachusetts; local pastors heavily involved

• Legislators are now receiving more postcards from the other side than from ours
