Just
1 month
until we are put on trial, again in the State House.
Hi
friends,
Just
one month from today, we will know who our new Governor is, and at the
same time, many of us will lose sleep, knowing that MA legislators will be
voting again on whether or not
to amend our constitution to take away our marriage protections
(leaving us with NOTHING). If
approved, this amendment
would formally alter our state constitution to state that gay and lesbian couples do not deserve the same
protections as their straight neighbors.
Once again, we will hear
from people who will attack our dignity and dehumanize us, preaching
that couples like Ed and me are somehow a threat to other
marriages. We will also hear how we somehow threaten children and
society as a whole. We will hear yet again that we are
sinners, and mentally sick. This HAS to stop. This is
hurting a lot of people, but unless everyone reading this newsletter steps up to support
the GLBT community, this abuse will continue to get worse for
another two years.

Ed

NEED OF DONATIONS!
Ed
and I have offered our story for MassEquality to use in their next
mailing. We hope that it can help stir some kind of action
from our complacent community.

I'm
sharing it again, with you all with a special request. Friends,
Please send in a donation to MassEquality. If you send
one in right away it will be doubled by an anonymous resource in MA.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
"Astonishingly, our side is dangerously complacent. Attendance at our events is down across the state.
While
20 or 30 supporters came to local meetings a year ago, only the same five or six show up now. Half of our past
donors have contributed nothing this year. And many of our advocates don’t even know there is a vote.
Meanwhile, the Right has become incredibly organized and energized to defeat us:
• Family Research Council president Tony Perkins is hosting a live broadcast from Tremont Street in Boston
to 80 million people nationwide, mobilizing the Right to overturn marriage equality in Massachusetts;
local pastors heavily involved
• Legislators are now receiving more postcards from the other side than from ours
