New
Year's call for help!
Unfortunately, Our claim to
victory was premature...
Tomorrow,
1/2/2007, can be
the FINAL SHOWDOWN!
...BUT,
ONLY WITH YOUR HELP!
WE
NEED AS MANY OF YOU AS POSSIBLE, IN PERSON AT THE MA STATEHOUSE
PLEASE
HELP!
Hi
friends,
I
wish I could be wishing you a Happy New Year... but right now I
can't as it is not starting out on a positive note. I am
grateful to all those who helped out over the last year but I need
to ask each and everyone of you to help out again, (hopefully for
the last time!)
Tomorrow,
the group "vote on marriage" has teamed up with several church
parishes and hate organizations to organize 9 bus loads of protesters to hold signs
outside the State House in an effort to pressure our legislators to
back down from protecting our marriage rights. They plan to
make it appear that the majority of the state is angry at our
legislature for procedurally killing the petition to ban gay
marriage. More than ever before, we need a mass display
of support..
we
need each and everyone on this list to make a stand at the MA State
House tomorrow
...either in person, by phone, or by email. Preferably all of
the above.
Timeline
why we need you tomorrow:
November
The legislature met, debated, and voted on the first of 2
amendments that would take away our right to marriage protection.
Then, the majority (109 heroic legislators) voted to recess to
January 2, assuming no one would come back on the last day of the
legislative year... effectively killing the petition.
November
- December
OUR
OPPOSITION HAS SENT IN FAR MORE LETTERS TO LOCAL PAPERS THAN WE
HAVE..
attacking the heroic legislators who chose to kill this amendment.
"Governor"
Romney used taxpayer money to stage an elaborate press event on
the steps of the State House with the Groups behind the petition
measure.
Governor
Romney went to the MA Supreme Judicial Court asking the SJC to force
the legislature to vote or, skip the vote and automatically put the
measure on the ballot in 2008.
The
group "Vote of Marriage" filed a federal lawsuit against
the legislators who chose to kill the amendment through procedural
means.
THE
MA SJC RULED THAT THEY CANNOT FORCE THE LEGISLATURE TO VOTE BUT
OFFICIALLY STATED THAT IT IS THEIR DUTY IN OFFICE TO VOTE...
This formal statement is not good for us at all.
Our
opposition printed and distributed wanted posters with WITH THE HOME
NUMBERS of our heroes, for the bigots to harrass.
PLEASE
TAKE ACTION BELOW NOW!
THEN,
JOIN US AT THE STATE HOUSE TOMORROW!

THE LEAST: PLEASE
