Drs. Robert Lerner and Althea Nagai, professionals in the field of quantitative analysis, examined 49 empirical studies on same-sex parenting. Some of the major problems they uncovered include unclear hypotheses and research designs, samples too small to yield meaningful results, and nonrandom samples, including participants who recruited other participants.
Sociologist David Popenoe of Rutgers University has done extensive research on the different functions of mothers and fathers. His studies show that while fathers tend to stress competition, challenge, initiative, and risk-taking, mothers stress emotional security and personal safety. When disciplining, mothers provide flexibility and sympathy, while fathers provide predictability and consistency. By nature, same-sex couples are unable to provide half of this equation.
The Globe may be free to support gay adoptions, but there is no reliable evidence that mainstreaming gay adoption won't put children at risk.

Massachusetts'
RCFM to gather pro-marriage testimonies
(Boston, Massachusetts) In the run-up to the expected vote in the State House on a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage this May, the Religious Coalition for the Freedom to Marry (RCFM) is calling on clergy and people of faith who support same-sex marriage to write testimonies on the impact that same-sex marriage has had on their lives. RCFM will collect these testimonies into a book that they will present to each lawmaker prior to the expected May 10 constitutional convention
(ConCon).
The deadline for submissions is April 17, and they can be sent to RCFM either via e-mail to
info@rcfm.org or by mail to RCFM, 11 Beacon Street, Suite 1125, Boston, MA 02108..

New Research Furthers Debate on Gay Genetics
(Washington D.C.) – New research reported in Forbes magazine has added a twist to the debate on the origins of sexual orientation, suggesting that the genetics of mothers with multiple gay sons act differently than those of other women. Scientists have reported that in nearly one-fourth of mothers with more than one gay son, X chromosomes were processed in their bodies in the same way. Normally, women randomly process the chromosomes in one of two ways -- half go one way, half go the other.
