Jerry's email update on the fight for Equal Rights

Hi Friends,

As promised, I will try to send only one email per week in regard to this subject.  That means some of these notices may be packed with information and requested action items.  As a general format, I'll list updates and news stories in this space and action items for us all to take in the red area to the right of this space.

Please take these email seriously.  I put a lot time and effort into this extremely important fight. These updates will include both nation-wide and MA-specific information. THANK YOU for all your support!

Notable items this week

  • Today, April 1, 2004, is Ed's and my 10th anniversary together...
  • 10 years of unwedded bliss :-p

  • This Week's  Vote: As most of you already know, the MA legislature just narrowly passed the first hurdle to allow MA residents to vote on who is granted/denied the legal protections of civil marriage.  This fight is not over yet.  The 105-92 vote shows that time is on our side.  After only a couple months, several representatives and senators changed their votes to support us.  After May 17th, same gender couples will be getting married in MA and the world will see that society has not come to an end.  We have a whole year now to educate other legislators and the public. Next year's debate will be on taking away the rights of MA citizens, a whole new argument that could work in our favor.  Our next strategic move is to focus on November elections... Oh yeah and GETTING MARRIED!
  • Jerry's published in the local paper twice this week. Unfortunately the editorial was intended for last week and had outdated info... Oh well.....   Article  |  Editorial

  • Cathryn and I delivered 245 signed postcards to representatives and senators on Monday morning, before the Constitutional convention. Our Quincy group collected the postcards at the Randolph Country Club.

Quincy's Representative Ronald Mariano changed his vote on Marriage to support us !!!!  ALRIGHT RON!
