Jerry's email update on the fight for Equal Rights (May 27, 2004)

Is anyone reading these updates?
I hope that these email have proved helpful in keeping you informed, although I'm not exactly sure if anyone is actually reading these updates as I have asked for your help and received only 1 response.

When I first created my Human Rights Campaign (HRC) page there were 2 action items for friends to take to help me to reach my goal.  I am grateful to all those who initially took action.

PLEASE REVISIT MY HRC PAGE as there are now 4 additional actions that you can each take that help me reach my goal of 100.  I'm not even 1/2 way yet!

It is now even more important than ever to take part in these actions as our bigot President is pushing for an amendment to the US Constitution, in response to the activity here in MA

Thanks for your help, now on to the updates....

Notable items this week:

Paul Meoni for President!.. Ok Ok, first things first..

Paul Meoni is the gentleman from Randolph, MA, that is challenging my HORRIBLE State Representative, Bruce Ayers for his seat in the MA House of Representatives.

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul and his partner at the benefit for Senator Brian Joyce and then again at the South Shore Civil Marriage for All and South Shore Pride's "Celebration of Marriage for All" benefit/fundraiser held in Scituate MA, this past Sunday.

Paul is a very personable, well educated fellow that is aware of local issues effecting this district including the fact that Representative Bruce Ayers will continue to vote against our civil rights.  You will start seeing many updates on this campaign as I will be doing everything that I can to support Paul.

I encourage everyone to introduce themselves and thank Paul for running. pjmeoni@comcast.net

Heroic Legislator in MA calls out for our HELP!

Please read the letter I received this week from Representative David Linsky.  PLEASE, EVERYONE, inside MA or not... these representatives are paving the way to equality for all, nation-wide.  We need to help them anyway we can!

If you can afford it, please contribute to as many of these heroes in MA as possible.

Dear Friends:

You probably know that I stood up for civil rights at the Constitutional Convention in Massachusetts. I was very proud to speak out in favor of equal marriage rights and against discrimination. I was extremely proud to vote against the proposed Constitutional Amendment that would have banned same-sex marriage.

What you may not know is that I have now been targeted by the anti-gay marriage forces in my re-election effort. I am facing a hate-filled negative campaign fueled by anti-gay rhetoric. It will be an ugly, difficult campaign.

I am having a campaign fundraiser on Thursday, June 3, 2004 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the Sherborn Inn in Sherborn.
It is located at the intersection of Routes 16 and 27. This is an important fundraiser for me and I do not have fundraisers very often. I will be having a live band and there will be great food. I would very much like to see you there. I have also attached a PDF version of the invitation and I would very much appreciate it if you could forward it to any friends or associates that might be interested. I thank you very much for help and support.

Contributions can be mailed to:

Civilization in ruins
Back in the old days, which now count as every day before yesterday, I used to look at Mitt Romney as a governor with a lot of unfulfilled potential.

Now, I look at him as a guy with a gorgeous head of hair. For that matter, check out those deep-set eyes, that almost unnaturally trim waist, the incredibly muscled gams. All you Bobbys, Billys, and Brads of the world, you're honestly going to tell me you've never noticed how his exquisitely tailored suits fall just perfectly so?.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Gay activists in Virginia are toying with a new motto for the state: "Virginia is for lovers. Some restrictions apply."
