I'm
Baaaack :-)
I'm
still shaking off the travel "woozies", but
time is now critical.
We
need to take advantage of the extra time our supporters have allowed
us, to convince more legislators to kill the marriage petition
AND to gain & RETAIN support in this November's
elections.
Hi
friends,
I'm
back from my 40th birthday adventure to Machu Picchu in Peru (click for
photos completely unrelated to this update). ...Now that
I'm back and catching up on the email and stories that I've missed,
I see that there is no to sit back and reflect on the trip.
I've
read several email on events and action items that I hope many of
you have taken advantage of. Congrats to our friend Joe who's EXCELLENT
letter was published in on the local editorial section of the
Attleboro Sun. I've also noticed that our friend Deval Patrick
is under attack from the other democratic candidates on his support
for us... HE IS OUR GUY, don't let the attacks sway you to
think otherwise.
As
promised, I've looked into the pro-equality legislators and
challengers that are in need of our support. Please take the time to
check them out, take some kind of action and forward them on to as
many others on your distribution list as possible. (More
MassEquality endorsements)
The
best resource that I have found so far, is at SupportEquality.org

Allen McCarthy campaign
Phone Bank on Monday, August 21
Allen is the only pro-equality candidate running for the open seat left by Kathy Teahan. He is a great candidate, but he needs a lot of volunteersAllen's campaign will be calling voters in the district who are likely to vote for Allen to ask for their support. He needs a number of people to make calls from about 5pm to 8pm on Monday.

Mark
Falzone |
Candidate
for:
Massachusetts House of Representatives
District: Ninth Essex - Lynn,
Lynnfield, Saugus, Wakefield.
Incumbent: Yes |
| Representative
Mark Falzone, who represents a socially conservative
district, went out on a limb in voting for equal
marriage rights at every opportunity in each
constitutional convention. As a result, he faced a
tough challenge by an anti-equality Democrat and was
targeted by Governor Romney in the general election.
In both races, he faced wealthy candidates who were
able to spend significant amounts of their own money
on their races. This year, Mark faces another opponent
in his Democratic Primary. In order for Mark to
continue to stave off anti-equality opponents, he must
raise significant amounts of money this year and
next. |

Candidate
for:
Massachusetts House of Representatives
District: 18th Essex MA
Incumbent: Yes |
| Elected
in November of 2002 to represent the people of the

past four years advocating for practical reforms and
common sense legislation. Her legislative priorities
have centered around the issues most important to her
constituents - education, health care, elder issues
and economic development. Barbara has distinguished
herself in the House as one of the leading advocates
for public education, affordable prescription drugs,
for her efforts to keep senior citizens cared for in
their communities rather then nursing homes, and for
her advocacy work on behalf of people with autism and
other disabilities. This November Barbara will face an
opponent who has vowed to use Barbara`s support of
civil rights against her in the campaign. Any and all
support you could offer would be appreciated. |
