Jerry's Weekly Update on the Fight for Marriage Equality

August 27th, Edition

What equality efforts are going on near you?.. Don't know?..

We STILL need to be working to sway legislators!  And get new heroes in office...  Nothing going on near you?
... then start something up!.

Hi friends,

I was (unfortunately) pretty overwhelmed at work this past week so I wasn't able to participate in many volunteering opportunities...  Then on Friday Ed and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary, very low key, just together alone. Now, I've really got to get into high gear and get moving.  I'm hoping our friends Tim and Brian had a decent turnout at their home meeting with Deval Patrick...

We still have a lot to work to do on both the petition initiative AND on the election front...  Since there are no new seats up for grabs in my town of Quincy, I intend to look for other local races that I can help support, including the Allen McCarthy campaign.  My section of the state is in desperate need of  supportive legislators.

If you do not have any pro-equality races in your town, I highly recommend that you too look to nearby towns where you can lend support.  Here is a helpful website for some pro-equality candidates in need of support.  (including the South-End and Jamaica Plain districts too):  SupportEquality.org

Allen McCarthy campaign

Allen is the only pro-equality candidate running for the open seat left by Kathy Teahan. He is a great candidate, but he needs a lot of volunteersAllen's campaign will be calling voters in the district who are likely to vote for Allen to ask for their support. He needs a number of people to make calls from about 5pm to 8pm on Monday.

The McCarthy campaign headquarters at 595 Washington Street, Whitman Center.

In the cases where friends do not have the time, WE (either myself or other volunteers from my distribution list) WILL WRITE EDITORIALS FOR YOU.  I'll work with other friends that are still available for authoring and editing assistance. All you will need to do is edit at will and submit to your local papers.  The Patriot Ledger in particular is in need of attention as it is the paper that speaks directly to the legislators that need attention.
