Volunteer to support pro-equality candidates OR at least, find out who they are & spread the word!

Do you know who is running or being challenged in your area?
I think some of you may be surprised!

Hi friends,

We still need to be working to sway legislators who are currently on "on the fence" on whether or not to defeat the citizen's petition, but we also need to prepare for the battle to continue next year, by gaining more support from the November elections.  I realize that many friends of ours are not politically active as we are, but we need their support, if by nothing else, voting in this November's elections. Please reach out to friends and ask them, to tell their friends about those running to support equality, or to at least get out and vote in November.  WE NEED VOTES.

But even before we start communicating to others, we need to make sure we know who is running in our own area.  I think there could very well be people on this distribution list that are not aware that their representative and senator are being challenged.  You can find out what district you are in by going to www.wheredoivotema.com.

If you do not have any pro-equality races in your town, I highly recommend that you too look to nearby towns where you can lend support.  Here is a helpful website for some pro-equality candidates in need of support:  SupportEquality.org

On another note about our current situation, Bay Windows has published a very interesting article on our current situation.  It interviewed several moderate legislators who point out where our efforts have helped and that our situation may not be as bad as we think... that we just might have more on our side that we think... NEWSPAPER "LETTERS TO THE EDITOR"
In the cases where friends do not have the time, WE (either myself or other volunteers from my distribution list) WILL WRITE EDITORIALS FOR YOU.  I'll work with other friends that are still available for authoring and editing assistance. All you will need to do is edit at will and submit to your local papers.  The Patriot Ledger in particular is in need of attention as it is the paper that speaks directly to the legislators that need attention.

When the board of MassEquality meets Oct. 4 to hold board elections, a new face will be joining the board — Johanna Schulman, president of the board of directors of Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD).
