(Bobby Orr) Power Play
I have been looking to add another Bally SS machine to the collection since I parted with Fathom. This one game along, so I figured it would do until I find my Space Invaders (which solves my Bally and my wide body machine). This one will be a bit of a project. At this point it is just standing up in my workshop. Unfortunately the back glass is in a couple of pieces, so hopefully I can get a replacement there at some point. At this point, all I know is it powered on and the displays looked good, but would not start a game or do anything else. I did not mess with it or try and figure anything out since I was in a rush to get it loaded and back home to care for the little one. Remarkably, this machine had to be moved DOWN a flight of stairs to get it out of the prior location. That makes the second time I had to move a machine down stairs to remove it... Perhaps I can convince the wife to let me but a machine up stairs too, then I can have machines on all three floors (basement, main level and upstairs).
Update: I found another back glass at the Allentown show. Not as 'nice' as mine, but at least in one piece -- though since I glued mine I guess it is one piece now :->. I also shopped the machine out which required work on ALL the circuit board in the machine. It still needs a little tweaking, and some care. The right flipper bat is cracked, one chime is missing the plastic piece so it does not ring loud and a couple of flaky lamp sockets. At least it is up and running! Will go into the willing to sell group, but would prefer to replace with another 80's Bally (Specifically a Space Invaders).
I replaced the missing piece so all the chimes work now, and right after I did that the solenoids started acting funny! Seemed to be a coincidence since replacing the header contacts going to the MPU solved the problem. Still need to replace the cracked flipper bat. I have the pieces, just need the time to devote to pinball machines.
