CobraForum Help Pages
I put this page together to help people in posting pics to the
Cobraforum. The instructions on the Forum ain't the greatest and assume a lot.
Posting Pics
OK, a quick primer on posting pictures: 1.) Make sure you have your picture in
an acceptable format. JPEG (.jpg) or GIF (.gif) are the preferred formats, but
Bitmap (.bmp) will also work.
2.) Upload your pics to a website. You can get a website for free at www.homestead.com or www.geocities.com or www.theglobe.com as well as others. They have web based file management tools to help you upload your pics to the website. You really don't even need to build a website, you just need a space to house your pictures. www.clubphoto.com is another option.
3.) Reference your pics in your browser to make sure the URL is correct. The
URL is the complete address to your picture and will be something like http://www.website.com/username/mypicture.gif.
This step is important because it saves you from misspelling and insures you
won't be embarrassed in your post. Once you can see your picture and nothing
else, right click on the address bar in your browser and choose copy. This will
place the URL in your clipboard so you can paste it into your post later.
Another easy way to do this is to get the picture in view and right click on it.
Choose Properties and it will show you the full URL (location) of the picture.
Hightlight the URL with your cursor and right click on the hightlighted URL and
choose copy. I would still paste this into your address bar in your Browser just
to confirm it will work. (right click, paste into the address bar.)
4.) Create your topic or post. At the point where you want your picture placed, type in [img] and click your Edit menu and choose Paste (or right click, choose paste). Follow the URL that you just pasted by typing [/img] and close out your post with something witty or contemplative.
Common problems with posting images: Misspelling of the URL - If you do step 3, you won't have a problem. Forgetting the [img] in front or the [/img] in the back Using two [img] tags. Please note that the first one "opens" the image [img] and the second one at the end "closes" the image [/img] which is the purpose of the / in the [/img]
