| Centennial Anniversary Planning Meeting |
Date: Saturday, July 18, 2009, 5:45 PM |
Attendees: Max Lausier, Bob Lyga, Dan Czuchta, Kris Meinert, Mary Meinert, Dan Lyga, Fr. Paul Luniw |
Motion: Minutes approved from last meeting (06/13): By Max Lausier; all approved Motion carried. |
Book Format:
Since we will be designing the book ourselves, we will be delivering it to the printer in electronic format.
The discussion centered around the idea that most printing companies require Quark Publishing software for the electronic format, but is it really needed?
Ink Spot in Bristol will take Microsoft Word format; other companies will take Adobe .PDF format. Kris mentione that she could convert MSWord to PDF if needed.
|
Book Cost:
Most book estimates are coming at around $6000.00. Is this too much, and do we need to change the criteria?
At the stated cost estimate, we would need to sell 12 full-page ads to break even. Discussion about changing to
a smaller size that 8.5" x 11". Previously decided we wanted to make the 100 year book no less than the 75 year book.
We agreed to revert to previously agreed size of 8.5" x 11".

Solicitation Letter Approval:
Kris showed us her new Centennial Header to be used with all forthcoming letters and announcements. Discussion was on font style and
whether or not to include a Ukrainian greeting with/without English translation. It was agreed to use Times New Roman as the font style
and a simple Ukrainian greeting is to be included in the header, such as "Glory to Christ Jesus" in Cyrillic.
We discussed whether to use color or B&W printing, color is expensive but makes a much better impression as the header logo stands out more.
It was agreed to print the first page of the soliciation letter in color and the second page in B&W; we will start with 200 copies to send out.
Fr. Paul and Kris to gather necessary addresses for diocese (Fr. Paul) and parishioners (Kris from last banquet list). We will begin dispersing
the letters after the Bishop's Charity campaign.
The letters will also be used by the people doing the local solicitation visits at businesses.
Action Item: Kris to modify header w/ Ukrainian greeting and send to Dan Lyga for inclusion in soliciation letter.
Dan to update letter, publish to the website and send back to Kris and Fr. Paul for printing.
Action Item: Have letters printed and ready for the next meeting

Centennial Commemorative Items:
Fr. Paul showed us some commemorative items that he's received from other parishes anniversary celebration. One was a laminated postcard with the
church on the front. Another item was a Christmas ornament which was very nice but seemed as if it might be expensive to disperse. Discussion was
centered about whether or not to have these made and whom to give them to. The commemorative items could be given out at the celebratory banquet or
to those purchasing book ads.
The consensus was that the post card would be a nice item to give out based on the cost. Some discussion about using our church facade for the front
picture, but we need to see if a good picture (minus electrical wires) could be taken and used. Other discussion about using an old picture of the church
that was donated by Mary Bobyk which is in the picture collage in the church hall.
Other fundraisers were discussed as to make money for book production, including pancake breakfast(s), perogi sales, etc.
Action Item: Dan Lyga to take several pictures of the church to see if any could be used for commemorative postcard.
Action Item: Fr. Paul to get cost estimate of the two items, including postcard work.
|
Centennial Banquet Discussion:
Discussion regarding the centennial banquet started about when to begin to organize, when to start looking into the caterer, who to cater, what the
approximate cost would be, etc. After several minutes, it was decided that this discussion did not belong with the centennial book committee and the
discussions were tabled and would be picked up by the banquet committee.
