WELCOME TO ROCKET AND CHASE'S VIRTUAL DOG HOUSE!

[Rocket, the world's cutest Whippet]

So many people ask me about whippets whenever I'm out with Rocket and Chase, that I've created my own Whippet FAQ. You can also view Rocket's pedigree (haven't gotten around to doing Chase's yet!).

MOVIE! See Rocket and Chase react to hearing the word "walk."

Originally, this page was just about Rocket. But in December of 2002 we got our second whippet, Chase, and are now lucky enough to have the two best dogs on the planet!
[Rocket with Mom, Dad, and sister]

Rocket was born in December 1999 to parents Honey and George in Santa Cruz, California. Here she is with her parents, one sister, and her breeder. We brought her home when she was 12 weeks old. We had decided on a whippet because they are the best dogs in the world: They rarely bark, are very clean, have no "dog" odor, and have a wonderfully outgoing but mellow temperament. They are related to greyhounds but are about half the size.

Chase was born in September of 2002 up near Davis. Unlike Rocket, whose parents were both show dogs, he has one parent who's a champion lure courser. Of course, they were both incredibly adorable as puppies!

[Rocket age 3 months]
When we brought Chase home, he took to Rocket right away. But Rocket was a little annoyed at not being the queen of the house anymore. As Chase got older, he became more of a pest since he wants to play ALL the time! But we know Rocket is happy to have the company.

[Loving the off-leash life at Briones Regional Park]

If there's one thing whippets love to do, it's run! They can reach speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. Rocket and Chase's favorite place to run is Briones Regional Park in beautiful Contra Costa County. Briones is part of the remarkably enlightened East Bay Regional Parks District, which only requires dogs to be on leash in parking lots and picnic areas.

[Rocket earning her name]

Their other favorite place to run is the absolutely fantastic Point Isabel Dog Park in Richmond, also part of the East Bay Regional Parks District. This place is dog paradise. If you have never been there, and you live in the Bay Area, take your dog immediately! There are hundreds of dogs at this beautiful seaside park, swimming, running, playing, and just enjoying the beautiful scenery.

And of course, there's always the backyard.

Rocket and Chase may not take after their parents by competing in the show ring or at the lure course, but when it comes to watching TV, they are champions!
[Max]
Rocket and Chase's feline sisters, Max and Buckwheat, are currently building their own website, but are finding it difficult to stop hissing and growling at each other long enough to learn HTML. They'll keep you posted!
