The 10:30 Group

The group of musicians who sometimes lead the music at the 10:30 Mass, aptly called the 10:30 Group, can trace its roots to the days following the Second Vatican Council, late 60’s.  Liturgical reform  brought new energy and musical styles into the liturgy. At that time labeled “Folk Group” or “Guitar Group”, the musicians led the singing at the 5:30 Mass once a month on Saturdays.  This mass was attended by Butler Students who found the music style appealing. Bob Riegel was one of the founders of the music group. In 1970, Lynn Herold joined the 10:30 Group. Two years after Lynn's arrival, Mark Proctor became a member.

Over the years people’s understanding of liturgy and music ministry has evolved to the current environment: the Mass attended by most people is at 10:30, the music group could be considered an eclectic blend of various instruments accompanying the vocalists.

We welcome additional vocalists and instrumentalists to the 10:30 Musicians.  Contact Tina Valdois-Bruner or someone on the liturgy committee with volunteering, ideas or suggestions.
