Koori: Translations and Scanlations

Finding translations of Koori has been an adventure. There is much more for Volumes 1-4 than for later volumes, but projects have been done for some of the later stories. In this section, I'll summarize what I know of currently existing summaries, translations, and scanlations, in volume order.

A note on scanlations... Fans have varying views on the legitimacy of scanlations. I don't make any scanlations available for download from this site, but I do point out where to find them. Personally, I wouldn't have got addicted to Koori without the scanlations for volumes 1-3 -- I was intrigued by Amparo Bertram's summaries, but not enough to go out and buy the series. I now own all 24 volumes of Koori and the Gaiden, not to mention just about everything else Sugiura has ever published, so I think I'm doing my bit to support the author. ^-^

If you like what you see on the net, buy the manga! Sasuga Books (www.sasugabooks.com) generally keeps Koori in stock.

Entire Series

The number one resource is Amparo Bertram's summary page, which has detailed summaries of Volumes 1-24 and the Gaiden. They're summaries, not translations, but the level of detail is outstanding and no one else covers the whole series.

Volumes 1-4

Translations:

Entristecer

An ongoing project by cinderfalling to translate Koori into English from the official Korean translated version. Translations of everything up through Volume 4, Chapter 2 so far.

Quasi-Translations of Volumes 1-4

According to the web page author, this translation project is on hold and she doesn't plan on doing any more.

Scanlations:

Essence of Purity

Scanlations of every chapter of Volumes 1-3, as well as two stories from the Gaiden. Most can be downloaded from links on Essence's main page (scroll through the downloads column on the right).

Volumes 6 and 7

Toei Mountain

P.A. Lovas has scanlated three segments of the "Lie in Bed" arc, which deals with Ishuca's past before he met Blood (this story is really cute!). Pam hasn't finished scanlating the whole story arc yet, but one can always hope. ^-^

Volumes 8 and 9

Rapunzel

There is a scanlation of the entire Rapunzel backstory (which stands well on its own, even if you're not following the larger arc that it is part of). I believe it was done by Game Over or Continue, which seems to be offline right now. I don't know of any place to download this scanlation directly, but it can be found on IRC.

Volume 11

I'm working on a translation of the Koumori no Asa II arc, spanning volumes 7-13 ("Rapunzel," mentioned above, is actually a long flashback-digression embedded in Koumori no Asa II). So far I've completed a draft of Volume 11 (Koumori no Asa II chapters 6-8 -- the climax of the Wild/Rapunzel story) & am starting work on Volume 12.

Volume 23

Somewhere in the world, there lurks a summary of Volume 23 done by Trismegistus. Scroll wayyyy down the left hand side of the page.

Volume 24

PerSeiD's summary of Volume 24 (I think it starts out with a bit of a summary of Volume 23 also).

Gaiden

Two stories, the Wild/Rapunzel story (Floral Tribute) and the Nei/Blood story (Puppet Show), have been scanlated by Essence of Purity.

There's also a summary of the whole Gaiden by Trismegistus.
