Pentecost Sunday
May 27th,
2012

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."

Eucharistic Adoration -
Friday June 1st
after the 8:00am daily Mass until
6:00pm.
Adoration of the
Blessed Sacrament is “a priceless
treasure” and a “wellspring of grace.”
It prolongs and increases the fruits of
our communion. It provides an
opportunity to express our gratitude and
love. Please make time to sit with the
Lord. He cannot be left alone! |

St Andrews is now fortunate to have a relic of
St. Catherine Laboure, a sister of
the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul
and a Marian visionary who relayed the request from
the Blessed Virgin Mary to create the
Miraculous Medal worn by millions of
Christians, both Roman Catholic and
non-denominational.

Novena to Our Lady
of the Miraculous Medal on Monday Evenings
The Novena to Our Lady of the
Miraculous Medal
continues on Monday
evenings at 7:00pm. Everyone is welcome! If you
are interested,
please come join us for some special prayers and a rosary
recitation to Our Blessed Mother. This Novena has been
ongoing since World War II, 66 years ago, and is as timely now as it
was then.
Father Joseph Skelly,
C.M., the first director of the Central
Association of the Miraculous Medal, chose
Monday as the day for the Perpetual Novena
in honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous
Medal.
On Monday, December 8, 1930 in order
to celebrate the 100th
Anniversary of the Apparitions of Our
Blessed Mother to St. Catherine Laboure, Fr.
Skelly initiated the first Monday Evening
Novena service.
As a result, this Novena continues to
be prayed every Monday at
St./st1:place> Andrew the Apostle Parish,
throughout this country, and the world.

| Do
You Know the History of the Novena? |
The Perpetual Novena in honor of Our Lady of
the Miraculous Medal began at the former St. Joseph Church in the
fall of 1943 (66 years ago) and continues to this day. On November
27,
1830,
Our Lady appeared to Sister (now Saint) Catherine Laboure, a sister
of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, at the Motherhouse of the
Daughters of Charity in Paris, France. Our Lady instructed Sister
Catherine to have a medal struck in the exact same image that she
saw before her, and entitle it “Our Lady of the Immaculate
Conception.” In 1832, 20,000 medals were made and distributed
throughout Europe. People were encouraged to wear the medal and pray
the “Memorare.” As a result of many reported miracles, the medal
took on a new name, the Miraculous Medal. Today, Miraculous Medal
Novena is prayed every Monday evening in parishes throughout our
country and in countries throughout the world. We encourage those in
our area to join with us and pray the beautiful prayers of this
Novena and honor Our Lady in a very special way. St. Catherine is
quoted as saying Our Lady promised many graces and blessings would
be given to those who asked for them. |
