 Railroad from Summerville, Pa. to Clarion, Pa. considered - Railroad route surveyed

1900

Charter obtained for Clarion & Summerville Railroad Company

1901

May - Name changed to Clarion, Summerville & Pittsburgh Railroad - Right of way obtained - Railroad President's death caused temporary abandonment of railroad

1903

Citizens of Clarion obtain rights to railroad and raise money for its construction

1904

Sept. 1 - Name changed to Pittsburgh, Summerville & Clarion Railroad

1908

Passenger service well established. Round trip between Clarion and Summerville - 1 hour and 45 min. Three trains per day run between the two towns.

1910

Dec. 3 - Road leased to Pennsylvania Southern Railroad

1912

Sept. Reorganized as Pittsburgh, Clarion & Franklin Railroad

1913

General Charles Miller, President of Railroad - November, 10 - Pennsylvania Northern and Pennsylvania Southern with Pittsburgh, Clarion & Franklin consolidate to form the new Lake Erie, Franklin & Clarion Railroad Company

1920

Volume of traffic - four million ton-miles of freight

1924

L.E.F. & C. operating 80 miles of road - 17 miles of branch lines, 15 miles of main line and 48 miles on the New York Central over which they operate passenger service to Franklin, Pa. - Dec. 31, Passenger service on New York Central tracks discontinued.

1925

Mill Creek branch line abandoned.

1935

Dec. - Death of General Charles Miller (President)

1940

10,000,000 tons of bituminous coal hauled over line

1941

Volume of traffic - 6.7 million ton-miles of freight

1942

Passenger service between Clarion and Summerville discontinued

1946

H.O. Burns, equipment maintenance, dies.

1953

L.L. Marshall, general superintendent, dies.

1957

Operating revenues reach $700,000 - Net income was $173,000 - Stock pays first dividend payment of $1.00 per share - H.M. Johnston, Vice President and General Manager since 1936, dies.

1959

The Hon. Theo. L. Wilson, General Counsel and a Director of the L.E.F. & C., dies

 1993

 L.E.F. & C. closes operation.
