Happy Scene
High Noon on the Walnut Street Parklet, and another Hounds on the Town commences! The hounds were abundant and the mood was cheerful. We really lucked out on the weather. Despite threat of thunderstorms, it was warm with just grey skies. The constant flow of shoppers gave Kyle a lot of 'splaining to do about how retired racing greyhounds make wonderful pets. Kantan wears a festive Hawaiian lei. Most people know "Aloha" means both "hello" and "goodbye" in Hawaiian, but it also means "Please Adopt Me Now." The pretty fawn is adoptable Samoa. The hounds had a wonderful time. Look at those happy faces! The fragrance of grilling hotdogs from the nearby kiosk may have been a contributing factor in their jollity. Being told you're beautiful a hundred times in an afternoon makes you pretty perky too.

Ruth and Arlo
Meme Lenenberg, Lois Folino, and Lou Evans join Kyle in this photo, showing off their own hounds and showcasing the adoptables Miles and Samoa. Miles and Meme's pooch are getting to know each other in the traditional canine manner. Lou Evans and Sue Moscos are mobbed by Junie Walz, Megan McAleer, Sophie Scheller and adoptables Kantan and Marcel. Obviously they all see something totally cool in the boutique they want someone to buy for them. Now. Lucky Ruth Scheller with the George Clooney of greyhounds, her gorgeous Arlo.

Sydney Bader with adoptable Samoa, who is wearing a Donation Dog jacket. All afternoon, the generous people of Walnut Street kept it stuffed with donations. Laura Lind and Pappy, who is looking very dapper, dashing. and cosmopolitan on chic Walnut Street. Mark McAleer enjoying a moment with his most beauteous Red Megan. He met her at Hounds on the Town last year! Matching a greyt hound to a greyt person like this makes the work of SCG volunteers so gratifying.

Marci and Sue
"Oh Marci! Marci! It's so good to see you! I love you I love you. Howya been?", says Megan, jumping with joy. Marci Fan Club members Forrest and Megan were all over her. Greyhounds never forget the one who first helped them after retirement. Sue Yanakos came all the way from Wexford to help with Hounds on the Town. Thanks Sue!!

Pathetic
Maisie check on Forrest
Ruth with pretty boy adoptable Samoa. Poor Forrest Walz! The show business of Meet and Greets can be exhausting. When Laurie takes him home later, he not only expects fried chicken, but may want his feet massaged with lavender scented oil from Journeys of Life. Always thoughtful, a concerned Maisie Lind checks to see if the prone Forrest is still breathing. He's okay, Maisie -- he just wants to get back on his cushy pillows at home.

Hounds on the Town couldn't have been nicer. The event received a good amount of donations which will aid bringing new hounds waiting at the tracks into the SCG program. It also resulted in the adoptions of Marcel and Riff Raff the next day!!

In short, it was a successful event. It must have been the good vibes from our wonderful sponsors at Journeys of Life. They are strong supporters of greyhound adoption and so very kind to us.
Way. Too. Cute. Maisie Lind with a young girl very interested in getting a pet greyhound. 3:00pm and another Hounds on the Town is over. "Oh oh," Pappy says -- "here comes the rain! -- everybody run for cover!" Luckily the storm waited until our Meet and Greet was over -- hooray! Once again, we thank the Shadyside Chamber of Commerce for their support and generousity.
And most of all, thanks to the wonderful SCG volunteers who participated to make this high profile Meet and Greet a success.
