Are you looking for someone you can trust to
come into your home or business? "I want to purchase a printer, what do you recommend?" The price of printers has fallen considerably, much like the cost of everything in the computer business. For most people, there is no need to spend more than $200 to buy a good printer with many attractive features. On most Sunday's, the ads in the Boston Globe from Best Buy, Circuit City and Staples typically feature very good printers priced between $70 and $200, with the occasional multi-function printer/fax/scanner costing up to $300. Do you print mostly in black and white, with almost no need for color? Consider a low-cost laser printer. HP 1012, 1018, and 1020 models are a great buy at $100 or less. Also, the Brother HL2040 is another great $99 printer. Color laser printers once cost thousands of dollars. Now, you can buy a color laser printer for $400 or less. The HP 2600 is a good buy, as is the Samsung CLP-300. In my own experience, I feel that HP printers are typically the best buy in printers overall. Lexmark printers seem to have a lot of software problems. Users report strange problems after about 3 changes of ink cartridges where the PC and printer cannot communicate any more. Dell printers are made by Lexmark, and Dell has cleverly designed the printers to NOT ACCEPT Lexmark cartridges so that customers have to purchase ink and supplies ONLY FROM DELL !! Buyer beware !! The only good news lately is that Staples is now an authorized seller of Dell computers, and Dell printer ink. Call Ed Sterling at 978-779-6058 from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.
