July 18
We will do some last minute packing for the trek, and get unnecessary items stowed in our storage lockers.
Departed for the trek in the afternoon at 1PM,  bus drop off at Six Mile Gate, and head out to ANASAZI for basic training by our Ranger.

July 19 - Petroglyph tour at INDIAN WRITINGS, do conservation project 11AM-2PM, helping to reseed a burned hillside. Then hike to COTTONWOOD trail camp, and we see the world's only T-Rex track on the way.

July 20 - Climb Harts Peak, 7978 feet, and hike into PONIL – Philmont’s original headquarters. Have a chuck-wagon dinner and then enjoy the Cantina show at 8PM. Adult advisors make pancake breakfast in the morning for everyone.

July 21 - Get our Burro, hike to PUEBLANO – do pole climbing, camp at PUEBLANO RUINS that evening.

July 22 - Take the burro over Baldy Skyline ridge and down into MIRANDA camp and said good-bye to the burro, then do black powder rifle shooting (at our hats and shirts!!). Practice Indian hatchet throwing too!

July 23 - Remain at MIRANDA – hike up 12,400 foot Mt. Baldy, hike down to FRENCH HENRY camp for gold panning and mining, Aztec Mine tour, and then hike to BALDY TOWN for a food pickup NLT 5PM. Return to MIRANDA.

July 24 - Leave MIRANDA, hike to HEAD OF DEAN in the morning, do challenge events. After lunch, hike "the burn" and over to BLACKJACKS camp.

July 25 - Hike down and cross Highway 64 and the Cimarron River, getting critical water at Visto Grande, going up the mountain to Upper Bench, and then over the ridge to HARLAN. There we reload shotgun shells, and then try our hand at some 12-Gauge shotgun trap shooting, with burro racing that evening at 7PM

July 26 - Hike down to UTE GULCH to pick up food, then on up through ASPEN SPRINGS to CIMARONCITO. Rock climbing either that afternoon or the next morning.

July 27 - Short hike to Waitt Phillips Hunting Lodge and take the tour, and another short hike to CLARKS FORK for a chuck wagon dinner, branding and roping skills,  and we camp half way up Shaeffer's Peak at PONDEROSA PARK.

July 28 - Hike the rest of the way up Shaeffer's Pass (to see the sunrise perhaps?), and down Tooth of Time ridge, climb The Tooth of Time. Pass through the last camp TOOTH RIDGE CAMP, and head back to Philmont headquarters and tent city, arriving around noon. Turn in equipment, sample the local food in Cimarrron in the afternoon, maybe go to one of the museums that Philmont operates. In the evening, the closing campfire and awards ceremony.
