Electric Bike Conversion

The bike is a Jamis Boss Cruiser 7-Speed purchased from a local bike shop in Tallahassee.

The motor is a Crystalite Phoenix Cruiser using a 4840 Electronic Speed Controller.

The battery power comes from 4 B&B Batteries HR12-15 Sealed AGM Lead Acid batteries, connected in series for a 48V 13AH battery.

I think most people would say why do a conversion?  Well, I wanted to be able to commute to work, which is only two miles but it has some pretty steep hills near the Capitol.  If I tried to pedal at all, I would need a shower when I got to work.  I am also 240lbs and there really isn't anything available that could get me up the hills without pedaling.  This bike does it very well.  The top speed is 30 mph on level ground.  I use just under 1AH of capacity per mile.  I actually come home for lunch every day for a total of eight miles, which uses about 70% of my capacity and then I plug it in when I get home for the evening.  I can make it from my house to my office in less than seven minutes and never pedal.  This is actually faster than my car by the time I find parking.

I really have no complaints but I am working on a 15s4p battery pack made from the cells from the LiFePO4 batteries from DeWalt.
