The Dead Bird Day Buggy Blast

An annual event, held on the sunny Texas gulf coast, on East Beach in Galveston. If you wern't there, you missed a great time, great winds, sunny skies, warm people, and one helluva lot of FUN!

This was the hotel home for many of us, the Wyndham Galvez on Seawall blvd. Five miles from the main buggy beach. Although if you wanted to, you could actually buggy all the way up to the hotel from East Beach park. Some did.

This is what the view looks like from East Beach back toward the hotel. Four or five miles of smooth sand, only interrupted by a jetty or two, but they can be overcome. Talk to Cliff and Dean. Except for Turkey day, when it was really blowing, the winds were almost a constant 5 to 10 mph onshore.

Jeff Howard did alot to publicize this unorganized fun fly, and lots of people showed up. Jeff brought his Van full of Quadrifoil toys for all to play with. He and Fritz Gramkowski enjoyed some great kitesurfing when the wind cooperated. Charles Hukabee put up a beautiful display of wind art on his many banner poles.
