Welcome to 8th Grade Science/Math Class
Dear Parents and Students,
Allow me to welcome you to 8th grade Science/Math class at Carl Sandburg Junior High. I am looking forward to getting to know both my students and their parents over the course of the year.
My philosophy of teaching is that every student can succeed in science/math class and that students learn best through hands-on exploration of the world around us.
It is vital that all students have opportunity to participate in class and our numerous hands-on laboratory activities so that they can learn by actively "doing science & math" themselves.
I am a science/math teacher because I love working with young adults and I love science/math. I wouldn't want to be doing anything else.
I promise to do my best to help my students achieve their potential. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's progress in science class, or if they need any extra help.
The eight grade science curriculum will be covering a range of topics that explore the environmental, chemical and physical world that we live in.
The 8th grade math curriculum will be covering algebra, working with polynomials/equations and developing problem-solving skills students will need to succeed in their academic and professional future careers.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year working together.
