Receiver Page 3 - Return to Page 1, or Page 2
While playing around with the Bolt and Locking pin I noticed a design flaw that when the bolt handle was turned to the locked position the front of the bolt would sometimes rotate with it. I had to go back and extend the grove in the bolt and add another alignment pin to the receiver to stop this from happening. This picture shows the extended grove. Which I should have done in the first place. Now I can remove the bolt with out having to unscrew the locking pin, the old way the pin would have had to been removed to take the bolt out for cleaning.
Here you can see the new alignment pin as well as the hole for the locking pin.
Here you can see the groove in the bolt in relation with the alignment pin.
For the Locking Pin I started with a 1/4" piece of drill rod and I am treading by hand it using a 1/4-28 Die.
After that I turned down the front portion to 3/16" to fit the groove in the Bolt.
Next I cut the Pin down to size with a hacksaw and used a dremal and cutoff wheel to cut a slot in the end so it can be screwed into the Receiver. I also filed a flat potion on the front to allow more surface area to contact the bushing for a positive lockup.
I cleaned up the receiver a bit more. Little emery cloth and a lot of elbow grease.
Next I cut the slot for the hammer in the receiver.
